Reduction in number of taxi driver assaults It is important to recognise that drivers too are at risk. In the past 20 years, 63 taxi or private hire drivers have been murdered. Whilst this figure does not distinguish between those who were killed whilst working and those whose deaths were not linked to the trade, it is nevertheless of great concern. Drivers are frequently victims of assaults and robberies. If the Secretary of State and Welsh Ministers choose to introduce more stringent safety requirements our proposals could allow for increased driver safety measures. Furthermore, national training requirements should, we suggest, include disability training, and could also better equip drivers to deal with challenging environments and avoid conflict. |

I'm glad the LC are concerned about this, obviously the concern doesnt appear to extend towards anything more than a few words written on paper, but it is concern nonetheless. They additionally dont appear to say anything else on the subject, which is of concern too. ![]() |

Nice to see economic theory being brought into the safety provision ![]() Quote: 1.9 "This means that we can leave it to market forces to regulate price and quality, including additional safety provision." They then dedicate a whole two paragraphs to the issue of driver safety (15.20 / 15.21) Something tells me, they dont particularly give a sh*t. |

I do notice they mention that our disability training will possibly include an element of driver safety. Its quite apt they put this in the disability section, as presumably we'll be suffering from some type of disability after assault. That aside, I have a suggestion; ![]() |
