Gourock man in complaint to council over taxi idling

https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/new ... complaint/

A GOUROCK resident has complained to the council over taxi engine idling in his street.

Tony Gartley, of Lynmouth Place, said he had approached the driver and asked him politely to turn the engine off, but claims he was sworn at.

Mr Gartley said: "When the car is sitting there, I need to close any windows I have open and depending on wind direction I get the smell of exhaust fumes coming in my home and back green."

An Inverclyde Council spokesperson said: “All complaints are looked into and appropriate action taken where necessary.

“We urge all drivers to please be considerate of others and the environment when using their vehicles.”

Article is a bit vague - for example it's not clear what kind of environment it is, or whether it's an official rank or office, or whatever.

But according to Google it's a very residential cul-de-sac. And article certainly makes it sound like it's a regular occurence and that it's not just happening for a few seconds, so hardly a surprise the resident complained to the council if he approached the driver politely and was sworn at.

That said, must be a slow news day in the Greenock area...
