This is an official Sheffield United news release, so is basically just PR bumph about a sponsorship deal. Slightly more interesting is the Safe Taxi Scheme, which is like similar student schemes, but uses a season ticket as security rather than a student card. In fact, click on the link at the bottom, and you'll see that the scheme applies to either United season ticket holders, or students at Sheffield's two universities. United partner with City Taxis Sheffield United is proud to announce the signing of a three-year partnership deal with City Taxis. The partnership will see the leading transportation, taxi and delivery provider take over the sponsorship Blades ticket office, match day tickets and season tickets. They are the UK's third largest independent taxi provider operating a local taxi service in Sheffield, Chesterfield, Derby, Barnsley, and Rotherham. Paul Gosney, business development manager at City Taxis said "We are very proud to be official partners with the red half of the city. We have been working with the club now for 12 years, having seen them go from the league one to the premier league, and are very excited for the next 3 years. Blades head of commercial Paul Reeves added "This is an interesting new partnership that will encompass the overall business model of City Taxis and will emphasise the recent new divisions such as City Grab, City Connect, City Business and City Electric. We want them to be the first choice supplier for our supporters for all things transportation". City Taxis are also offering their Safe Taxi Scheme to all Sheffield United season ticket holders. The scheme is in place for circumstances where fans are at risk of missing an important event, feel their safety is compromised, or have no money to get home, they can use your season ticket card as temporary payment.
