The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, around 1.05am, when the male driver, in his forties, picked up two males. After transporting them to Sainsbury’s on Witan Gate, the passengers attacked the driver in an effort to steal his mobile phone and money.
Despite managing to exit the vehicle initially, the driver was quickly recaptured and subjected to further assault.
He suffered multiple injuries to his head and required hospital treatment, although he has now been discharged.
In connection with the attack, two 16-year-old boys from Milton Keynes have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They have been released on bail pending further enquiries, with a return date set for 19 July.
Authorities are urging anyone with digital evidence, such as dash-cam, CCTV, or other camera footage of the area around the time of the incident, to come forward. This information is crucial to the ongoing investigation and in ensuring such distressing events do not go unpunished.
