I was going to copy and paste this article and make it easier to read on the forum, but I lost the will to live. It's actually quite an in-depth piece.

Exclusive: Inside Aberdeen’s taxi ‘monopoly’ as drivers ‘threatened with blacklisting’ if they move to Uber

TLDR

Well I know more than a hundred words or so represents a bit of a challenge, Edders

But since you seem to feel strongly enough about it to log on and remark in the way you did, then I've removed the post. As I said, it was really for my own benefit, and some people on here say me putting a bit of effort into stuff like this is because it makes me 'feel special', or something like that

So I can only apologise for any offence caused by the taxi forums' equivalent to José Mourinho - The Special One

Sorry to repeat my joke about the journalist Mr Gossip, though, but found this quite funny:

We reveal:

The he said, he said as trade bosses are at odds over the Uber blacklisting threat

Also this - is he the one who regulates the sex shops and strip clubs?

Or maybe it should read licensing vice-convener [-(

Quote:
Vice licensing convener Steve Delaney told him: “This is not the place for it.

“As in, if any driver joined Uber they’d NEVER get to work for the three companies again.

“Which I totally agree with.”

So the whistleblower is saying he agrees with the people he has just whistleblown against.

Can only really happen in the taxi/PH trade. #-o

Existing firms are not happy and have sent in objections to be considered next week.

But some people are supporting Uber's application.

"The council’s powerful Taxi and Private Hire Car Consultation Group" wrote:
“In all cities in the UK where Uber operates, their model of operation is to use unlicensed drivers and unlicensed vehicles."

So if that's the best they can do it'll probably be rubber-stamped. Like last time round. And just like in Glasgow and Edinburgh for some years under the same legislation.

Mind you, those in the other article who seem to think the licensing process is some kind of popularity contest will probably think it was them wot won it :?

The council will have to come up with legal reasons if they refuse to license them.

The rubbish spouted by the local firms will never in a million years meet that level of reasoning.

Well the pub landlords are all in favour of Uber.

I wonder if they would be equally in favour of 100s more pubs opening. :-k
