Are any of these supermarkets going to be prosecuted or paying compensation out for miss labeling food ? Like feck.Another shining example of tory cuts.

I suppose it depends if the food has actually been miss labled.
Just what % of a beef pie has to be beef?
What if it is a "meat" pie?
What are the guidelines for the "filler" in some of these products?
Does a steak pie have to be beef steak?
How much pork is in a melton mowbray pork pie? There has to be a minimum of 12.5% pork but you could have 12.5% bird or rabbit as well and 12.5% other meat. This other meat could be anything.
Things are never as clear cut as they seem.

When the packaging says 100% beef is it not meant to be beef only ? Forget all the other sh1te they put in the meat content isnt what they said. Why else would they apologise in the press.

Did the packaging state 100% beef on any or all of these products? Does the 100% beef mean the solid meat content of the product only? These are things that we, as the public do not know. We may think we know but that is not the same as a legal definition.
A public appology may just be to please the public.

That is my point. unless you know what the law is, it is not possible to categoricaly say that it was miss sold. Obviously some of it was, but not necesarily all of it.

Red Tape usually ends up frustrating small businesses and upping council tax as people build up their little empires of regulation with nice big fat pensions at the end of it whilst they process reams and reams of forms that people have to fill out

What this country needs is to sort out ENFORCEMENT not increase regulation if there is more chance of getting caught and of being hit in the wallet people are less likely to do it simples

absolutely correct - but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to stop it.

I suppose there would be no problem if it were pork found in kosher or halal meat? or meat of any kind in food labelled as suitable for vegetarians

Red tape is Tory dogma for anything that gets in the way of making money.
