Thinking of the old Digitax F1 & F2.
Can the monetary value of the distance be set as any number of pence, or does it have to be in whole 10p units?
Thanks

Pretty sure it would go up in any number and not just 10p increments.

I've got an 806, which I'm guessing is older than the F1 and F2, and we use 5p increments in Fife

My first meter was a Digitax model in 1998, and it went up in pennies, because we had 12p increments on one tariff :-s

In fact think this F2 for sale on eBay is displaying £3.51:

Be surprised if it couldn't be programmed to go up in pence, or in pounds if you want.

Thanks folks.
Case closed I think, I checked the flag drops on PHTM and more than 20 or so have really odd values in pence.

Ah, yes, and the PHTM figures show Dundee at £5.66 for the two miles.

This article about a Dundee fare increase from 2019 said the RMT wanted to get rid of the pennies and have 5p or 10p increments. In fact, I'd say there's no need for increments smaller than 20p these days [-(

www.taxi-driver.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34297

We had 20p increments across the board in Fife when they got rid of the pennies around 20 years ago. Then they put the flag up to £3.95 on T2, so that introduced 5p increments on all T2 runs, because the meter cranks up 20p.

Think that was to stop the meter showing £4.00 for the flag, but the 5p drives me nuts ](*,)

Pretty sure they reintroduced the pennies in Dundee as well years after the smallest increment was 10p, so that's going backwards too, in my opinion. I often say to folk that it's like the Bank of England reintroducing the 1/2p piece (halfpence), and forcing retailers to show it in their prices

If it's thought necessary to fine tune fares to that extent, then a lot better to do that with the yardage rather than the increments shown on the meter.

That said, small increments aren't so bad with card payments, for obvious reasons.
