One guy, who found a laptop PC in his cab, took it to his local Police Station and handed it in. It turned out to have belonged to a senior person at the Ministry of Defence, and contain Top Secret data, as I recollect.

(I reckon, the top secret data, was details of how much Gin was drunk in the Officer's Mess).

One of the lads found a nice set of mini-scales, with some sort of talcum power.

He handed them into the police, but it seems the customer never claimed them.

First the chap oh so sound,
found in a taxi 10, pound,
what else lurks with in a cab,
oh so may things difficult to keep tab,

the one about the scale,
left me wondering was he male,?
and the white power was it a drug?
keep that safe like a mug,

not collected dare I ask,
did they return it in a flask?
we have a punter that always leaves,
something in that car of Steves,

its done deliberatly so she,
can get it returned so to be,
she fancies him like mad,
but Steve hates her thats so sad,

we have conditions to check every trip,
for left items but theres a blip,
most drivers want to get on thier way,
they tell me searching the cab, does not pay.

everything left must be tagged,
then put in a safety bag,
taken in to licencing den,
we hear no more about it then.

when i hand belongings in i always go to the head station (bell st in dundee)firstly i can park in the police officers only spaces (undercover may use taxis)but mostly becaue they seem more interested than smaller stations ,when i hand over belongings i get a reciept plus they take all my details name office car etc, but recently i handed in a wallet with money and some credit cards to the broughty ferry office the officer in charge just took the wallet and said cheers, i asked if he could phone the owner who i dropped off two minutes earlier so he wouldnt be put through the bother of cancelling his credit cards, he said ill leave it to day shift, ive since talked to the owner and recieved a reward for my actions and he told me he had to cancel all his cards ,as this was a regular customer plus i would have given the officer my details if he had asked i felt all this was uneeded....
