Excuse me if I sound a bit thick, but on the list of "86 councils who have decided to retain quantity controls", some of them are open to legal challenge, and some would seem to be not. Why is it some are and some not? By the way, on the Bournemouth one, you could add "plate values £60 K." They have almost doubled in 2.5 years! |

Every council is open to a legal challenge no matter what but the reference in the list of restricted councils refers to those councils who have not had a survey within a certain period of time more often than not 3 years and those councils who have conducted limited in-house non independent surveys. The list needs updating so I would look at the date next to each individual council which will say something like, "as of 21/5/07". I shall update it very soon. Regards JD |

What since the council decided not to de-limit?
There are some folks on here who bang on about plate values being down to 'goodwill' value.

The html list on site has been updated except for the chart and a few other small items. Two authorities have kept restrictions including Tunbridge wells who are issuing 5 new licenses and St Edmunsbury. Two more are expected to join them but I first need to confirm their status tomorrow. Durham are undertaking a survey at this moment in time and Babergh are still awaiting the removal of their three zones when it is expected they will have one zone which is derestricted. At the end of the day there will be 95 or 96 councils who still practice quantity controls. Not a bad exercise considering TDO is the only medium where this information can be found and at least no one will be speculating how many councils actually restrict numbers. http://taxi-driver.co.uk/quota.html Regards JD |
