Teen, 19, guilty of taxi man attack
A TAXI driver was beaten by three thugs who tried to set a dog on him.
The trio launched a vicious attack on Delta driver Martin Geraghty after refusing to pay a pounds 5 fare.
As he asked to be paid after arriving in Everton Valley the two men and one woman turned on him.
Liverpool Crown Court heard one of the men got a Staffordshire Bull terrier, shouting "bite him".
But Hannah Squire, prosecuting, said the animal was too docile.
He followed the group, they became aggressive and he was hit from behind and knocked-out.
Ms Squire said a woman who witnessed the attack on September 8 last year saw the trio punch and kick Mr Geraghty.
They also smashed beer cans on his head.
Gary Austin, of Spindle Close, Everton, was arrested after his finger prints were found on a beer can at the scene.
Yesterday the 19-year-old was jailed for a total of 22 months after pleading guilty to wounding.
