We have zillions of those concrete monstrosities and I've not know one of them damage the motor of a converted cab's step.

Two drivers from the royal oak went with a group along Prince of Wales road and the Steps motor housing scaped on every road hump.
The driver from KPM's said " it keeps doing that!"

I'm quite sure that can be sorted in a very short time.

Maybe instead of having the auto step they should just have the fixed step that many conversions use.

Well done Sussex and well done to the person who took time out to make the video and post it on "youtube.com".

I've now had a chance to view the new Mercedes today down at KPM.

Nice, but too wide and long IMO.

The drivers area is a marked improvement on the TX with lots more room. The side doors (manual or electric) are bound to cause problems for clueless punters, and look too vulnerable to me.

Time will tell, but as yet a couple of weeks on, I've yet to see one in service. :?

I've heard it said that the doors are not very robust. The vehicle is long but any vehicle providing adequate driver space and wheelchair access is going to be longer than an LTI vehicle. Is the partition adequate and how many marks out of ten do you give it for both passenger and driver comfort?

Regards

JD

The partition looks as tough as the current LTI one. Given that the vehicle is assembled / converted in Coventry, it would'nt surprise me if some of the parts came from the same companies that supply LTI or some of the other people like Jubilee.

The driver has more leg room, and the passenger compartment is much the same as the TX, albeit another few inches longer.

There seemed to be switches everywhere which invites people to push them, also it does'nt have any wind down windows which would be a nightmare should the Air Con fail during the Summer.

According to the moaners and dissenters forum orders topping 100 have been made for the new Taxi.

That's very interesting, what's also interesting is the fact that the passenger windows don't wind down. That would probably be a negative in the eyes of many prospective buyers.

Already a 100 lost sales from LTI, that's next years profit gone.

Most of the conversions have sliding windows, so they can keep cool that way.

Could it be that GBC failed to notice that the windows slide across instead of pulling down?

Thanks for that info Sussex.

I bet that seems quite strange to drive until you get used to it.

Be like driving a forklift.

Having looked at that video again I can't see any way how the rear windows can slide across.
