I think it should be mentioned that the final decision on this matter rests with the council executive who will make their decision on July 15th.

Can I ask where you got the date of July 15th from as it has not been mentioned anywhere that I have seen also in the newspaper article it says "if the council executive give the rubber stamp on the decision next month."

Thanks

The report states the recommendation goes to the executive committee, I merely enquired when?

At a meeting of the Executive today 17/07/08 it was decided to take option 2

Option 2: To accept the recommendations of the Licensing Board meeting of the
15th April 2008:-

That the restrictions currently in place on Hackney carriage vehicle numbers be removed, with the requirement that new licences only be granted to applicants who propose to licence a new (at the time of registration) purpose built wheelchair accessible vehicle of a design and manufacture that is approved by the Licensing Authority.

And

That the relevant enforcement agencies be contacted to request that priority be given to the enforcement of the traffic regulations on designated Hackney Ranks to ensure maximum availability of rank space.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was also another provision to possibly carry out an unmet demand survey in July 2009 when the new unitary council takes power.Which would include Vale Royal,Chester and Ellesmere Port.

I am not exactly clear on this last bit as there was a bit of disruption at the end of the meeting so I couldn`t hear properly.

deja-vu.................. and next the cab drivers will be prosecuted for over -ranking but no new ranks will appear......... I bet there has been some banging on benches telling the council they can't do this and they can't do that.............. instead of educating them and JD would have a field-day if he knew some of the names that were doing the banging

I won`t be demonstrating as I am happy that I can now get a plate without having to pay through the nose for it.

I have been waiting for this day since the last (flawed) survey 3 years ago.

You won't be happy when you find that you cannot pay for your new Taxi because there are too many on the road, and you suddenly find that the price you pay for a radio has increased. and you're doing twice as many hours just to keep the bailiffs from the door. seen it all before.and you're welcome to it..... plant pot

If I actually cared what you thought then I may have been offended by being called a plant pot but maybe its just the sour grapes making you bitter.

You may have seen it all before - so what

I can now get a plate that last week would have cost me £25,000 and buy a brand new cab for less than I pay for my radio now.
Twice as many hours - I doubt it.

If anybody thinks this is about Taxis then they're mistaken, this is about a number of areas coming-together and one particular licensing officer becoming the boss. the same as Berwick
