The LTDA was formed by a group of well meaning cab drivers to do something about the onslaught being dealt out by illegal cars acting as taxi's.
after a short while it was clear to the board that more money could be made from the drivers than actually working a cab and after a couple of fit ups and Coup's, so called trade leaders emerged.
Empire builders who have for many years lined there own pockets with money they take from mugs like you.

Nice rant, but Minicabs are now licensed and legal, it's 2008, not 1968. Like your rip off extra's, you'll just have to live with it or lump it. Folks like you are the trades past and it shows. Shame another 8000 mugs seem to see sence in joining too unlike the circus act from SE1.

A full time professional body needs full time reps, we have some of the best.

Never mind eh? :D

thomasthetaxi wrote:
But I would have thought you knew all this GBC as you persist to tell us you know every thing about the trade.

You'll have to show me where I said that? I know one thing though, you and the half dozen pensioners will give yourselfs strokes if you don't contain your anger. Forget it. leave it to the current drivers to decide the trades future, perhaps then we can undo the bad reputation your generation have created around wheelchairs, brooming, short trips, South London trips etc etc

thomasthetaxi wrote:

What we have done ( we being, The Anderson shelter group) is set up a collection of sites where drivers can get the information to complain directly to the people reasonable for the every day woes.

You mean sites and people that can be found on any Google search? Smashing.

thomasthetaxi wrote:
We have a surveillance web site for drivers to reference to when sending in emails.

To date the drivers themselves, have got the weight restriction at Albert bridge increased ( with the help of Peter Holme Cross London Assembly Member and officers of the royal borough of Ken and Chelsea). Tickets given out by the Police from Wandsworth have been refunded or cancelled .

What utter tosh, the drivers appealed them, or had a trade body represent them, now your claiming the credit? You really do live in a world of fairies don't you? :D

thomasthetaxi wrote:
The Tickets given to drivers stopping more than 18 inches from the kerb in York Way Kings Cross refunded and stop ( with the help of Navin Shah London Assembly Member)
Westminster council is to now stop issuing these unlawful tickets outside Annabels after intervention from Mr Shah.

I've had three PCN's, I've sorted them all out myself just as these drivers have done? I wonder what the other 24'800 drivers who don't stop off at the one stop whinge shop do?

Perhaps you solved the Iranian conflict of the 70's, or overcame the difficulty at Papworth during the first transplant because the LTDA did'nt.

Your one of life's dreamers, and now your on here boring everyone because your last forum went tits up.

Take a reality check, your a old lad who drives a cab part time. The trades past, not the future.

thomasthetaxi wrote:
Unfortunately the wireless hat cam has packed up, but I've just replace it with a dash mounted small handy cam.
So now when you run out of debate material your posting your holiday pictures. Bit childish

Shame your hat cam packed in. Thank god you have a new one.

Nice to know as single females stand in the rain waiting on a cab for ages, clowns like you are driving around filming parked cars. You should be ashamed of yourself, it's silly old men like you that get the trade bad press.

Tossa Bob your alter ego

I was'nt aware I had an alter ego? I can't see any usernames which go by that name?
Good one for you though! Contact admin, they'll change it for free.

You have to read the posts before you slag me off cause your missing the point again. So I will repeat it just for you, now read it slowly
At no point have We the Anderson shelter looked for any praise or Kudos.
Personally WE have done nothing that can be praised, nor should it be. Every result that has been achieved, and there has been many in our first year, is the direct result of the drivers themselves sending in hundreds of emails to the PCO, TFL and local councils.

We did appeal for help to your LTDA but they just ignored the drivers.
Perhaps they were all on holiday.
I don't mind you slagging me off cause you seem to get so much enjoyment out of that. But I do object to you inferring that I have said things that I have not said or claimed.
My posts speak for themselves and don't need careful editing from you.
next time you want to quote from me show the whole paragraph.

Out of 25'000 plus drivers Mr Blobby, you'll always have a few dissenters. Put it another way, if you thought I went on about the Minicab trade, have a look at Anderson shelters (Thomas the Taxi) website.

At least I accept you exsist.

Your whole post(s) suggests and aludes towards the suggestion that drivers should'nt join the LTDA as if you are some alternative trade body. I've pointed out you are not, but mearly a collection of about 6 drivers who spend a huge proportion of their day excersising their jawbones in a (soon to be re-developed?) Cafe.

My point is that the LTDA are the best representative group we have, but you can't seem to see it through this hatred you possess about it's officers.

I've always found the doors at Woodfield Road wide open any time I've had a enquiry, and heaven forbid should I ever need their legal services I know they are there both as a Taxi driver and when I'm out and about as Joe public during the day.

It's simple in my and the other 8000 drivers eyes, you either go it alone and listen to the moaners whether it be the Royal oak or the feeder park canteen, or have that essential back up for £16 a week.

Given the alternatives of a part time crew from the LCDC or the far left at the TGWU I know where my money will stay.

Up until their recent election, the LCDC had one of the best minds within the Taxi trade under their umberella. Now look.

If your not members, why would they give their time for free? As a member you'll get an open door as I would do. :?

You do read John's editorial every two weeks?

I mearly return the favour, I'd read your replies to me more carefully. Pot, Kettle, and Black comes to mind. :?

Why do you think that the drivers I stop with at night do not belong to the associasion or unions
Why do you constantly assume that the drivers I stop with at night do not belong to the association or unions.
I myself was a member of the LTDA when you were still at school.
I have had their legal department represent me and I nearly lost my license, when I should of got off.
I don't talk about things I know nothing about, unlike you. In my 36 years I have been on all the circuits except XETA and have been a member of all the trade representative bodies at one time or another.
And no I don't read Johns monthly trite.
When I read I like to be informed and entertained not brainwashed and bored stiff.
Plus I don't like financing the life styles of lazy old men who should have retired years ago. Ask Jhon and bob the last time they drove a cab for a whole day.
The LTDA do nothing but get the trade further in trouble every month thanks to indoctrinated brainwashed members like you, who should know better.
How long we got till you go to Sweden? it cant come fast enough.

Why? :?

Spain's full of Londoners, so that's out.

My other half, and my Mother are both from Sweden. We have, as most folks over there do, a summer house which I basicaly run and finance. That will become fort GBC when I retire.

I can't think of a better place to go, the standard of living over there whilst a tad dearer than here, is much higher than you would get in Britain. It's also virtualy crime free in this particular area, plus my nearest neighbours are about a mile away. 8)

Could'nt resist? Lol, it's like a drug is'nt it Mr A. You find yourself logging on just to have a peek.

Given that you seem to have elected yourself chair of the 'Andersonshelter group' (your words), it would appear you have classed yourself as a representative body given the content of your posts and website you run. Plus you seem to slag off the LTDA at every given opportunity, so I assume you and your buddies would'nt be seen dead with a membership card. If you are all members of the Ant Hill Mob from SE1, then good luck, personaly I would'nt entrust my pet cat to them to look after, let alone my livelihood.

Err, good for you.

Got off? I hope you're not aluding to the fact you had done some wrong? Proved innocent I hope? You can't win every one, and lets face it there's a good few drivers out there that should'nt be wearing a Badge. Lets take the Waterloo and Paddington thiefs for starters.

Film them and put the footage on your website?

I thought not.

I beg to differ, if someone does'nt agree with you they're wrong and your always correct.
I'll site the start of our little quarrel, when you wrongly told everyone (well all 8 members on the Black cab forum) that Minicabs had been given the right to use a marked taxi rank on Kings Cross Bridge, when in fact they had not. This was a lie designed to boost you ratings, and when I pointed out it was waffle you got the hump.

Now that's childish.

Funny you mention Xeta though. :D

Now your starting to sound like me. Do you have a problem with senior drivers?
Bob and John T do a sterling job, along with Richard and Barry. I think £16 is great value for money, and given the fact your not a member what's it got to do with you who does what at the LTDA?
That's a matter for me and the other paying members. Non members get no say, if you want a say join, I'll send you an application form if you like?

Ah.

Look at that, you nearly completed a whole post without being abusive. Still never mind, better luck next time. :D

It's suffice to say, it will be long before you are allowed to hang your keys up. Good planning and sound financial advice allows that.

Puss och Kram.
