Why Uniformity, Different areas have Different needs and Versatility is more important than uniformity. The only one thing that should be done with a degree of Uniformity is Customer safety and standards, be it HC or PC.

lol so much nonsense to correct and I'm wondering if I have the will to dedicate so much of my time to comments that deserve nothing more than a contemptuous response.

Considering I, or anyone else involved with TDO has never mentioned "excellent earnings" then I'm at a loss as to why you made such a fuss about it? Do you think that making false accusations adds weight to your argument? You need to get your facts right otherwise people might start thinking you are an habitual liar.

Quote:
Reality to your untopia state of "driver choice" is a 100 hour working week for less per hour than the national minimum wage.

Considering driver choice currently exists in over 70% of councils then I suspect you are referring to the other 28% where there is no driver choice. I don't perceive or foresee any type of utopia for taxi drivers and never have, I advocate quality controls over quantity controls because I believe that to be the fairest way of controlling numbers.

JD

Do you have proof of this or are you guessing?

No he doesn't. lol But lets not spoil his fun.

Only three people are privy to that information and that is how it will stay.

ARE THE DRIVERS DOING 80 - 100 HOURS A WEEK BECAUSE THEY WANT TO.

If they don't then why are they doing it and/or why are they still in the trade?

BECAUSE THEY HAVE ENTERED INTO A 5 YEAR FINANCE AGREEMENT ON THEIR VEHICLE

BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORTGAGES AND FAMILIES TO SUPPORT

You and your pro deregulation buddies enticed people into the trade with promises of vast earnings on the basis that people needed to wait half an hour for a cab twice a week

Shame on you Sussex for enticing people into the taxi trade with the offer of vast earnings and even worse shame on you for advising them get vehicle finance. lol Seems like you get blamed for everything Sussex?

A bloke in his 30's had a heart attack last month up here doctors put it down to stressing over how he was going to make his payments when his earnings had more than halved guess what he does for a living?

Anyone who stays in a job where they can't make a living is an idiot. If a guy at 30 has an heart attack then I suggest it might be down to something more serious than stress. Playing the sympathy card doesn't wash with me, if you can't make a living driving a cab then get another job.

I don't see what that has to do with new legislation, please explain.

JD is obviously a communist

Obviously. lol

First you accuse me of being a communist and in the next breath you accuse me of being a capitalist by virtue of the fact that you suggest I want to make money out of new legislation. I'm rather confused, which one is it? Or are you as confused as the rest of us?

Interesting that you suggest I am a communist and yet here you allude to me being a capitalist. lol

The truth of the matter is, that unlike the NTTG I've never laid out the details of my blue print for change and the reason for that is because it would take up too much of my time. However, unlike you I do have a blue print and sometimes it shines through in the comments I make but the difference between you and I is that I have the best interest of all cab drivers at heart and not just the few.

To be quite honest, practically everything you have said in this thread has been a blatant lie or smear, when asked to substantiate your allegations you have donned your Fred Astaire dancing shoes and neatly sidestepped the question. You can rest assured that no one really takes your rantings seriously and in case you haven't yet realised, "accusations without foundation are meaningless".

I have one question though.

If a single tier licensing system is such a good idea why have they moved away from a single tier system in London and recognised minicabs by including them within the Licensing process as Licensed Private Hire.

Who is THEY?

It is obvious you haven't got a clue how the licensing system in London evolved, after all that's been written on this website. It exposes your incapacity to digest even the basic fundamentals of all the licensing regimes in the United Kingdom.

Can you explain why it would put more people below the poverty line and remove choice for the public?

JD

Because JD deregulation has placed beneath the poverty line many drivers who believed your twaddle about the excellent earnings that could be make if you had a HC on the simple basis that people had to wait half an hour for a cab two nights a week.

It's good that we live in a democracy where you can say anything you like without having to substantiate your accusations lol. However I'm not going to ask you to substantiate that which you cannot, so I'll ask you to answer the question I posed regarding "removing public choice", or did that question conveniently pass you by?

Isn't that what I said? Minus "the whether they like it or not" reference.

I'm wondering, is it you that wants all hackney cab drivers to have private hire operator licenses in order to take a private booking. GA wants the same thing so I think it's fairly obvious that you and him sing from the same hymn book but how does that fit in with GA's notion of keeping hackney carriage drivers separate from private hire drivers?
