I work in London & there is just NO WAY that I want to see the turning circle requirement dropped.

IMHO - I feel that 3-point turns are both more dangerous & time consuming as compared to a U-Turn. Outside of London this may not be a problem but central London usage then I beg to differ chaps.

regards eze

Well considering a U turn is illegal to perform, and a 3 point one isn't, it makes sence to scrap it.
I think the PCO will have to do it when no one can get hold of a LTI cab anymore, I cannot see LTI making them anymore one full production starts in China, and once the Chinese see they are not selling they will stop also

U turns are not illegal.

If they were, the government would be stuffed.

And if they are illegal, why do I see so many "no u turn" signs Skippy?

OK. We've had this U-turn legality question in Brum too. Loads of it.

How do you make a legal U-turn, & what makes a U-turn illegal?

Also, when is a no U-turm sign legal, & when is it flawed?

Joking apart where are these 100 merc taxi's working. There are only about six Asquiths left on the road and yet I see them night after night, all over London. But I have not seen one new merc taxi working. Are they hiding or are they all on day work?

I expect as soon as they are out on the road they will be seen, but as they were only passed last month I expect they are being converted at the mo.

In an update of the sales situation I spoke to KPM the other day and they confirmed they have made around a hundred sales. The vehicles have to be transported from Spain and then to Coventry and then to London. I should imagine the whole process including fitting out would take about three to four weeks at least. KPM said they have been overwhelmed with the response so i can't really add anymore than that. At the end of the day we can only report what they tell us and they haven't made any wild claims so far.

I think if you wait a week or two you will see Mercs on the streets of London.

Regards

JD

Well i've seen a few this weekend (or the one over and over again?) so they're now on the streets.

They looked quite smart, the front TAXI sign is quite noticeable with it's super bright LED lights.

What will you do if there is one behind you on the rank, and a punter wants it every time

The secret of identification is in number plate recognition. They should be quite easy to identify if that simple process is adhered to.

I'm glad you like their appearance but is their performance is as good as their looks.

That's a very good question but there wouldn't be an awful lot a driver could do under the current law.

saw 2 Merc taxi`s on the waterloo rank today. Both had PCO plates on them.
one had the go faster orange stripe and taxi signs on the side,
and one didn`t.
Is there a reason for this?
For what it`s worth,IMHO they looked like minicabs.

Some drivers might find it strange ranking up with these vehicles but I wonder if the Merc drivers are treated any differently now they have changed vehicles?

I think the orange strips are an extra but don't quote me on that.
