Maybe it's because one of the head honchos in the PCO enforcement team is a fully paid up member of the GMB? :D

Not so sure about that.

If a driver is employed then drivers hours are limited.

Ask Tom Thumb on here to clarify, as he employs many of his cab drivers.

I was under the impression that employed persons could not be forced to work more that the european working time directive stipulates but they can if they want to.

You don't see these things mentioned when taxis are taken off the road either.

if HC and PHV ops biggest beef about "limo's" (and lets be fair, you CAN plate a limo.....) it seems to be the number of passengers carried, badges/plates, insurance, etc.

id love a limo.................with a plate for max 8 passengers

on another point

can a vehicle have a plate for 8 passengers but have an extra seat?

im thinking where (say) a limo (cadillac?) could happily have 8 belted passengers in the rear paying, but the driver never uses the front passenger seat

i know 12 seat minibuses require excess seats removed for PH/HC plates.

would the LO require removal of a front passenger seat if there were 8 in the back?...

Is there much more to add?

The biggest 'beef' is that they're unlicensed vehicles driven by unchecked drivers.

That's not a gripe, it's a fact with the majority of the industry. [-(
