It's simple Saf.

If you have a valid point to make then why hide? I don't hide - equal terms.

This is the only place guys like you have a voice. You believe not a jot in anything you say and won't back it up. You need to hide for fear of embarrassing yourself, losing what, if any credibility you think you have . No one knows who you are and probably never will.

This is the Edinburgh taxi trade, it's a small place so why the secrecy?

As for the market its fecked. Yes, some guys out there will still make money depending on how they are fixed, relative to their personal situation but for how long is anyone's guess. You can be sure of one thing. It's going to get a hell of a lot worse before it gets better.

My bet is, next February will be crunch time for those financed up the ying yang.

50K for the illusion of "businessman" or should I say working for the council.

      Now that's funny

People are allowed to have an opinion Garry even though it might not be the same as yours and if they want to stay anon thats up to them but it doesn't mean what they say is wrong.
Yes it will get a lot worse before it gets better but more taxi's on the road is not the answer and you know it no matter what way you dress it up.
Remember Garry, "only the strong survive".
Theres a good couple of years of this to come.

Yes, "people are allowed to have an opinion" and yes they can "stay anon"
but it only goes to prove they do not have the courage of their convictions.

Whether or not they are wrong in what they say is academic. As their beliefs will never be put to the test. No one knows who they are - remember. What they say counts for nothing - the nothing part is you Saf.

This is where inadequate anons like you come to jerk off- you come from a community of handjobs looking for the same self-gratification. You, and people like you are never prepared to put your name to anything.

Look at fasties for example. It reincarnates every now and then but it's still the same old sh*te written by the spineless under a different pseudonym - you being one of them.

The truth is Saf, you've always wanted to be recognised for your opinion but could never pluck-up enough courage to put your name to it. You're a legend in your own mind Saf.

I can see your epitaph: here lies Saf - he nearly had an opinion - once

Who?

Btw, you "strong" you're having a laugh ....

Garry,we are all erse holes if we don't agree with you it doesn't matter if you know who we are.
It doesn't matter how you dress things up ,you and Jim's ideas are non-starters.
"Always wanted to be recognised",
Pot ,kettle Garry,it is you that thrives on getting yourself noticed.
Newspapers, radio. All you two idiots done was let us all see what two idiots look like.
We all know that you portray yourself as some sort of hard man but we all know different, attacking Kevin the way you did.
We can all pick on guys alot smaller than ourselves but it doesn't mean we are hard men,if anything it shows you for the coward that you are.
Then you have Jim who records conversations then goes running to the authorities,a "keyboard hardman" as you like to say.
The man is clearly deluded, the laughing stock of the taxi trade.
"strong "totally, i have survived where as you two clowns are on your knees looking for someone to put you out your misery.
I think you would need a big headstone for your epitaph and here is what should be on it.
HERE LIES THE BODY OF GARRY THE SKULL,
THOUGHT HE WAS CLEVER BUT WAS INCREDIBLY DULL,
HE HAD WHAT HE WANTED A FEW YEARS AGO,
2 PLATES AND HE SOLD THEM BUT FOR HOW MUCH WE DON'T KNOW,
NOW ALL HE DOES IS CRY FOR SOME MORE,
HIS WIFE GOT FED UP AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR,
NOW HE HAS NOTHING AND DRINKS EVERY NIGHT,
SITS ON HIS COMPUTER AND LOOKS FOR A FIGHT,
HIS BEST MATE WAS JIM AND THAT WAS FOR SURE,
THEY RAVED ABOUT THEIR LAWYERS BUT INDEED THEY WHERE POOR,
WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER WE'LL SHOW YOU GUYS,
MORE BITS OF PAPER BUT STILL FULL OF LIES,
COUNCILORS ARE CORRUPT,BROWN ENVELOPES IN HAND,
THE TWO FUDS DIDN'T GET IT,THERE WAS "NO UNMET DEMAND",
OCTOBER THEN PASSED AND AGAIN THEY DID LOSE,
THATS WHY HE LIES HERE,HE OVERDOSED ON THE BOOZE,
NOW HE'S DEAD BUT NOT FORGOTTEN,
THE EDINBURGH TAXI TRADE STILL SLAGS HIM ROTTEN.

The taxibuses may go away. However I doubt it.

If I were running the show, I would expand them even more, economies of scale and all that. Then I would diversify into other markets, perhaps even develop a hop on hop off Dolmus type service.

Then there's the extension into a Private Hire service. Wedding support vehicles, weekend excursions.

There there's the city centre shoppers sprinter. Or the car park link service, bringing every shopping area closer to every car park.

The potential of the taxibuses could be huge, because they have much to offer that taxis don't.

Rather than disappear, given the right business brain behind them, they could increase exponentially. Don't you think Renilson would know this?

The reality is that taxis exist, not because we demand they do, but because the council allows us to. That's why your 60 grand plate is such a precarious purchase.

You run with the hounds, they eventually bite you.

Yup, thought about it.

But when you've seen how the system works, you realise that it can't be changed through the current "democratic" process. I guess that's what Trotsky said all those years ago, before the Bolsheviks, who mistakenly believed they could use the system to change itslef, put an ice pick through his eye in Mexico.

Problem is that as soon as a new councillor is elected, he is sucked into the system. That's why it's unelected officials who are running the show.

Two months after being elected, Alex Salmond signed a concordat with COSLA where he agreed that there would be no constitutional reform of local government within the following four years, the term of his office.

COSLA then issued its own concordat signed by all parties, in which it stated how happy it was to be working in "equal partnership" with the Scottish Government.

Because of this my MSP feels he can't ask a question on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which could be construed as "interfering" with council business. In short he has been emasculated. Councils can do what the heck they like because no senior Scottish politicians will interfere with them, hold them to account.

That's why the councils get away with what they do. Its why they've created their own snooping pseudo police force, why they can look in your bins and fine you for discarding refuse incorrectly, why they can fine ladies for the crumbs of a sausage roll dropped in the street and for any other minor misdemeanour that takes their fancy. Add in ID cards, summary justice, universal DNA capture and universal surveillance and we've allowed the public servant to become the domineering master.

In the case of the last council reaffirmation of its policy to restrict taxi numbers, Jim Inch, Corporate Services, compiled a biased report, obscured any argument, ignored opposing view, wrapped the document in hundreds of pages of irrelevant reports and gave it to councillors before the meeting. As expected they ignored the voluminous content, voted as agreed by the party heads who decided the "policy", both of whom had contrary interests, and supported the proposition to maintain restriction. Opposition parties voted along party lines. No questions were asked about any aspect of the report, or the policy. Indeed the meeting's rules expressly forbid any questions to be asked. This is how our local "democracy" conducts itself. No threat to the status quo dictated by vested interests. And no though to public needs.

The system would never allow us to change it from within. Career politicians like their egos being massaged too much. They have a career to think about. They trade off their principles to get up the ladder, to benefit from their position. As long as the expenses continue to flow, why buck the system?

And at the next election, they'll present their basket of policies, obscuring the self-interest they have, or the cock-ups they've made, in the hope that a docile electorate will be fooled and vote for them anyway.

And with less than one in six of the electorate voting for any individual candidate, it doesn't matter whether a focus group stands in opposition to them, they still get elected. SNAFU.

Raw Nerve Saf

For a minute there I thought you were going to put your name to all that invective - like I said before, no Courage, and you hate yourself for it.

Sorry Saf, no one knows who you are.

"Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities . . . because it is the quality which guarantees all others."
— Winston Churchill
British Prime Minister

Pulling the head off it, won't make you feel any less inferior Saf. Come on be a man, be recognised, step out of the shadows, you can do it.

The above is "DEMOCRACY" in action. This is why it's one rule for them and a different rule for everyone else.

Oh, you want proof

This is all about you and your lack of courage Saf. I've seen it all before, plenty to say until you have to step up to the line. The plate issue is just a smokescreen. I don't think you even care.

The sad thing is the taxi trade is full of guys like you.
