Woman Held Female Taxi Driver in Headlock

A Woman taxi driver was held in a headlock by a female fare after she ordered her out the cab.

The taxi had been boarded by the woman and three others in the early hours of Saturday, asking to be taken to Grenville Road in Plymouth.

At around 2.30am at North Cross roundabout, following a number of abusive comments directed at the driver, the cabbie pulled over and ordered the passengers out of the cab.

At this stage the suspect - believed to be called Julie and a regular at The James Street Vaults in Grenville Road - turned violent, punching and kicking her before putting the driver in a headlock.

The attacker was described as white, in her mid-forties, of medium build, wearing a white shirt, black waistcoat and black coat.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the attacker or any of the witnesses to come forward.

The James St Vaults is about 2 miles from Grenville Rd, it aint even in the same "district"

I'll assume it was also a PH car if the driver was so open to attack and also seemed to know of the attacker.

If the pick up was from the James St Vault it's only about 3/400 yrd from North Cross, must've been some abuse if the driver was p!ssed off after such a short time.

My own opinion is if you can't cope with these lairy punters you shouldn't be out there, I'm not justifying the attack but sometimes agreeing with and/or ignoring these type of customer for the sake of 4/5 mins is better than taking a beating.

A great many passengers are only too willing to abuse cab drivers regardless of the circumstances.

None of us know the full facts surrounding this incident but the passengers had the opportunity to walk away and they didn't, instead at least one them chose to attacked the driver.

No matter what transpired, violence should not take place and if this lady is ever caught and prosecuted then there is no doubt in my mind that the defence of provocation will not find much support in a court of law.

So, if the cabbie held the PH driver in a headlock, is there some kind of turf war going on?

That what the story's really about?

No, no, no, no, no!! Turf wars only happen at Racecourses, because that's where they have turfs for the horses to run on.

That's not to be confused though with Surf & Turf. Surf & Turf or Surf 'n' Turf is a main course particularly common in North American steakhouses which combines seafood and meat, usually American lobster tail or shrimp (usually either grilled or breaded and fried) and steak.

So no turf war at all.

As for the cabbie holding the PH driver in a headlock; well I wasn't there so I don't know who was first to two falls, two submission or a knock-out.

Mind you if Mick McManus or Billy Two Rivers had been there, they would have sorted both the HC & PH drivers out.
