old hack you are wrong, when an individual phones a taxi office the buisness contract is with the office not any individual cab,the customers put their trust in the offices,if an office did not make reasonable checks to see who was picking up their customers and a serious incident happened the office plus op and driver would be at fault, the office is the one with the deep pocket and would be the best one to chase regarding compensation,i dont know where you get (more ph less wavs) wavs are piling in at every licensing meeting,a few ph ops binned there plates last month, one only had his plate for two months, the oldest cab in dundee,a f reg volvo (in great shape )is now off the road as the owner is going into partnership with another ph owner and putting on a tx2,if the doblos were still on the accepted list there would be no ph in dundee(ph operators words)there was an interesting letter in the tele tonight ,if the letter writer wants to become chairman of the dta ill vote for him/her tomorrow

Wavvy my old son, it's obvious you are new to the game, there have been a few cases in years gone by when drivers were caught operating without badges, result in all cases were the drivers were charged convicted and fined by the courts, there is one guy driving today who was caught back in the early 90's and has now been granted a badge.

This contract you talk about is utter pish, the onus is on the operator not the offices,it works like this...call to office...job to car...driver accepts job.. operator responsible for his driver,

I'll not be changed on my opinion as I know there has never at anytime been such a case.

Oh it's nice to an old hack !!!

old hack sorry for not replying sooner, teles have merged teles/handys cabs with disasterous results meaning im now working 7 hours more per week just to make the same money, buts thats a seperate issue, your comments on the drivers driving without badges and being caught is not what im talking about,im talking about a licensed office(its happening soon)sending maybe a sex offender unchecked for a fare which only got in the cab because they phoned the said cab office number, the unlicensed driver then commits an offence, and you say they would have no claim against the office?then how did they get in the cab?you phone a major plumbing co to do a job and they send a self employed workman with no qualifications who floods your home you do get a claim against the plumbing co,its called subcontracting, im handling conrtact work for teles ,the punters i pick up weekly dont know my name or phone number they only know one number teles,a few years ago a double rapist and a pedeo were driving taxis in dundee during the hired plate period,if either of these two were caught driving unchecked (crucial word)after office licensing then it would be bye bye office license ,how hard is it for an office to check who is driving their customers about?
