GBC I dont know or care who you are.
If you have a beef with thomas the taxi or London jim so be it.
You have no idea who I am, so stop trying to be clever and think I am one of the above.
I`ve said it before and I will say it again,LTDA are fantastic if you want a cheap holiday or a day out at alton towers.Other than that they stink.
Also you are not being quite true, when you say about there 8000 members. Most people are on there because they have been on comcab for a long time and it used to be that you had to join the LTDA.
Some people have joined for the sickness and legal scheme.
the LTDA dont have 8000 fighting members,Just 8000 members on their books. Its just like joining the gym after xmas,we all join in January, never go and leave the standing order to run and run.Wonder how many MEMBERS virgin active have.
Where were the LTDA when you needed them all those years ago?
All went fishing with Harry Feigen, I suppose John Thomas probably got them a cheap flight.Should have been trying to get rid of the few hundred minicab drivers on the road
Ah the good old days when me and that whippersnapper Geof Kaley had to dispatch, because the greatest dispatcher in the world (ever) Charlie Coburn never turned up for his shift because he was alittle worse for wear.Where was Dave Millen and all the rest of them? The LTDA ,bash the flash and watch the minicabs nick our work.
I hope that the other 7999 members are as happy with them as you are.

Ah, Charlie Coburn,
I remember when he came out of his "cottage and saw a big hole in the road. So to be safe he dragged a big piece of iron plate over to cover this hole because he thought it was dangerous to the staff at Taxi House. Then he turned and fell down the hole he had just uncovered and broke his leg.
I don't know if you were dispatching that night Mr taxiCABman, but as they tried to tell everyone what happened, they couldn't speak for laughing.
There were some great characters in the trade back then Johnny Thwaites (could never spell his name) ,Curly Jack Taylor, Dan 2 will do! ( would run from one side of London to the other just to cover a regular local) . As you can gather when I became disalutioned with the LTDA I went over to Lords.
But now their all too political with chairman you cant get rid of. So I just listen to my Ipod and Talk sport now.

Cab drivers on the board of the TFL?

Under new legislation for the provinces it might be a good idea to have representatives of the cab trade on the new regional boards? What a good idea?

Regards

JD

I think having a PH driver and a taxi driver on all boards is an excellent idea, but I can't see how me and JD are going to get around to all 400 councils. :D

thomasthe taxi we must stop this social chit chat,I dont want GBC to think I`m a senile old git like he thinks you are.
ah good old Charlie coburn.I remember his party piece "anyone out there well east"he would ask?
several drivers screaming into the radio "yes ",
his reply would be"well hurry up into town, thats where the work is",
it would get us every time.
Or his other trick,"come on gents, five jobs to be covered on the board, one of them is an airport".He would get rid of all 5 jobs with the remark "sorry gents the airport was just cancelled".
Sorry for the remeniscence chaps, not all that often you can speak to someone who can remember the really good times, not just the financial ones.
