Cab drivers on the board of the TFL?

Under new legislation for the provinces it might be a good idea to have representatives of the cab trade on the new regional boards? What a good idea?

As the next Meeting of Minds meeting is due to be held in London then maybe some of your gang can attend.

I'm quite sure you will be fascinated about the inns and outs of PH cross border hiring. :D

Well I aint got a gang, Just a lot of friends and I'm not as narrow minded as some people would have you believe.
I just do not like to see the abuse of the Licensing system that's happening in London at the moment.

Welcome to the world of Licensed Private Hire!!

Us lot in the stick have had this for 32 years, since the LG (MP) Act 1976 came into force.

And in 32 years in the sticks, nowt has been done about it.

But, I'll wager, that now that the same as has been happening in the sticks for 32 years is happening in London, things will get sorted reasonably quickly.

You see government & legislators have this notion that, 'if it ain't happening in London, then it can't be happening in the sticks.'

I'm glad the PHV (L) Act 1998 came into being, because us in the sticks will benefit in the long term, with new legislation ..... eventually!

There was widespread abuse of the extras as you well know but choose to twist around, that in my opinion made it easy for the crooks to operate and tarnish the majority.

The meter is now simple you push the button and that's it.

Countless passengers thought you were ripping them off when the journey came to an end and suddenly the fare jumped a few quid.

I earn way more working nights now (as I did tonight) than back then, and receive very few questions or querys from passengers about the amount.

Hope you had a nice evening in MrA, the Taxi queue at Victoria only had about 100 passengers waiting for taxi's at 1am.

Still, filming parked minicabs is far more important innit?

Well I hope your right, but I cant see TFL doing a thing, they don't have too. Down south we got no leaders with bottle. Our so called leaders just want you to keep paying your subs so they can have a nice quiet life till they retire.

I think for Bill Oddie to be taken seriously on the board of TFL he must resign his position from the LTDA as he will have conflicting interests.
Every time a none member has approach him he always without doubt said he will not listen to anyone who is not a member of His union. Not what the other 18,000 Taxi divers want to hear.
The same goes for Steve wright, He should be made to step down from his position with his mob.
