What a bunch of clowns. Do none of you see young females on a busy Saturday night approaching Ph saloon type cars in an attempt to get home? I know I do. And you don't think they put themselves at risk?

The difference between a hack (London Taxi) and a saloon car could be the difference between life and death for some wee girl.

CC, Brummie Cabbie you are a pair of fecking ers*holse

Is there a good reason why Mr Jasbar shouldn't be able to apply or receive a hackney vehicle license?

Or are we saying that only those with money or patiences are allowed to run their own business?

It's not what he is writing, but the manner in which he is writing his letter to councillors.

Anyone has a right to their own opinion; that's democracy!!

But when you start writing 'Edinburgh councillors responsible for rape!!!!' & some of those councillors will no doubt be women, then the whole thing becomes, libelous perhaps, & could reflect on all Edinburgh cabbies.

There are much, much better ways of achieving a goal than to write insulting letters to Edinburgh councillors in the vein that Mr Jasbar proposes.

And as for the pi** take; anyone with that kind of disregard for councillors, who let us not forget are elected by the people, for the people & to serve the people, & saying that councillors are 'responsible for rape', IMO deserves the extraction of urine.

You have interjected above in a sensible, courteous manner, stating your point clearly, & with dignity, & the dignity & respect you have shown deserves a respectful answer, which I have tried to provide.

Perhaps Mr Jasbar might yet learn that word rants are usually unsuccessful in achieving a preferred goal.

You're a dickhead son.

It's not in the "i'm alright Jack" playbook

Sorry.... but jaspar has hit a new low....in order to get another plate he's playing on what happened to a young girl by a piece of sh*te.....a piece of sh*te that may already be licensed as a driver.

CC

That's as maybe but the point has been made that there are not enough licenced taxis in Edinburgh, and this could have been a contributing factor in what happened.

If jasbar is correct about councillors restricting plates for their own reasons, then they are partially liable.
This should be investigated, regardless of anyone's personal feelings in the matter.

If jasbar is correct....he's manipulating the situation in the worst possible taste.

The girl allegedly got into a PHV.....PHV's operate throughout the UK and for the most part the drivers dont rape anyone.

People cross the street in front of moving cars & get knocked down.

I suppose we are all at fault for that too!!

There is ALWAYS a responsibility on every able-bodied individual to look after their own personal safety.

The fact that most of these young females have got that rat-arsed on a weekend night that they barely know what they are doing, is a problem that they have largely created themselves.

I think Jasbar has overstated his case, but nevertheless he makes a valid point - why should public safety be compromised in any way for a system of profiteering?

It can't be proved that the rape wouldn't have happened if taxis weren't restricted in numbers, but, as a corollary it can't be proved that the rape wasn't an indirect consequence of the policy.

However, as per usual the debate on here has nothing to do with the merits of the consequences of the policy as regards public safety; it's just comes down to where you stand on the policy per se.

Just like party political tribalism really - it has nothing to do with debating the merits of the policies, and all to do with the party badge.

I did write most, not all, & I do work weekend nights, so I see plenty of it.

And when you have a choice of 5/6 pi**ed women, or 5/6 pi**ed men, I know which I prefer to take.
