That's as maybe but the point has been made that there are not enough licenced taxis in Edinburgh, and this could have been a contributing factor in what happened.

If jasbar is correct about councillors restricting plates for their own reasons, then they are partially liable.
This should be investigated, regardless of anyone's personal feelings in the matter.


If jasbar is correct....he's manipulating the situation in the worst possible taste.

The girl allegedly got into a PHV.....PHV's operate throughout the UK and for the most part the drivers dont rape anyone.

And I don't disagree.

But again there are proper ways of doing things. If Mr Jasbar has evidence to this effect, then he should approach the Scottish equivalent of the English 'District Auditor', or whatever government body would deal with the matter & put his facts before him.

Don't you get it? This isn't about some wee lassie walking out in front of a car drunk, or tripping over a kerb.

This is about some perv actively seeking the opportunity to rape someone. He is in fact preying on his victim. A street full of drunk young women is his hunting ground. If they can't hail a taxi then guess who's next in line?

Hi there! Brummie er*e here again!!!

I love this style of debating!!!

Can you not get it into your skull, (sorry for the pun), that because rapists are sexual predators, & probably plan their attacks meticulously, they will obviously look for the easiest prey.

And if they have a choice of a sober, as opposed to a drunk, hardly-standing on her feet woman, they are more likely to choose the intoxicated woman, for very obvious reasons.

Skull usually.... uses the London argument of being able to get a plate.. and that is a city with serious problems about rape..... and has been for as long as I can remember..

You can't have women wandering the streets, approaching private cars in an attempt to get home because of the shortage of Hacks.

Sexual Predators look for vulnerability and that's how they choose victims. Wee lassies looking for taxis only want to get home, and that's what makes them vulnerable.

It seems fairly obvious that neither skull or jasbar give a sh*t about the girl who allegedly was raped by PH driver.....the thread is just another convenient excuse to have a go at their LA.

I wonder if either have started a campaign to get PH cars in their district adequate signage for PH?
