B tech is training.

NVQ is assessment.

We're all doing the NVQ. Not many problems experienced down here.

I've signed up 90% of our fleet so far and others in the town are getting on and doing it.

Borough council are making it compulsory in the near future for new applicants. County council are making it compulsory next year for school and social services contracts.

NVQ is wholly government funded at the present time.

now let's see Skull... would I be stupid enough to argue the right and wrongs without doing the course first ....No... by passing the course will I have a higher qualification then the licensing officers in my area...Yes.. can I ascertain whether the course will be of benefit to new drivers..Yes... might I possibly inject something into the course that might be of use regarding drivers' safety in the future..???.... can I work with the college to make the course accessible for new drivers.. and.... more convenient for existing drivers.( flexible) ps.. do I care what you think...NO.and I am doing the NVQ

The bit about these disputes that gets me is when any group of drivers disagrees with a council directive or any other directive is that they threaten to go on strike. What a rediculous thing to do. The council are not your employers, Manchester airport are not your employers, do you think that these bodies give a flying f**k if you don't work.

No, you are doing the course so that your chums on the council will give you the recognition you so richly deserve. I wonder what little concessions this bought you up at Council HQ? The quisling Trevor has done the course so now there is no reason for anyone else not to do it. Oh and lets not forget that once qualified, Trevor, will give his own input into the course.

Someone pass me the sick-bag :-&

Lucky the Burnley boys haven't got you work against them for the inside Trev . . . .

Big fish small pond, that's why Trevor is taking the course. It's the wee man syndrome all over. These guys just can't let go. And without someone to recognise what a paragon of virtue the man is, he's lost at sea.

Imagine bumping into Trev on holiday. Within 24 hours, you would know more about taxis and Sefton than anyone that stays there.

Trevor, no one cares what a feck wit you are. We all know. You don't have to put it on public display.

You know what they say Trev: you can take the man out of Sefton but you can't take Sefton out of the man.

I bet you've murdered a lot of people on holiday with all the pash of how great you are.

Oh and btw, taking direct action is the only way to get councils to sit up and take notice. If the Burnley crew can stick together long enough to get organised, and to feel their own strength, they could become a force to be recognised.

The council would end up on the run. . .. Lets just hope they have more balls than you Trev

And to back up your thoughts Mr Skull, we only have to look at the Halifax thread on this forum as proof of what can be achieved if the 'trade' sticks together.

In Halifax, PH went on total strike for 36 hours from 6.00pm on Saturday to 6.00am on Monday. HC did not support that action, & there were many cabs damaged by flying bricks as a result.

Two weeks later, Halifax PH went on total stike from 6.00pm on Saturday to 6.00am on Monday. HC supported the strike this time & did not work. Out of town HC & PH would not enter Halifax to drop off or pick up.

HALIFAX WAS A GHOST TOWN ON SATURDAY NIGHT & THROUGHOUT SUNDAY!!

The licensing committee are now 're-visiting' the items deemed contentious by PH in their newly adopted policies.

When the 'trade' went on strike, & the night clubs, bars, restaurants etc., in Halifax city centre earned 'zilch' on a Saturday night, & virtually nowt all day Sunday, it is these businesses & Council Tax payers that created the most 'stink' at the council & with councillors the following Monday morning.

Sticking together = Result (of sorts for now).

So the question is what dialogue do the Halifax Trade have with the council regarding implementing their proposals...... to me it would seem none.... it would seem they sat back to the very last minute .... and then had to defend their position.... rather than being part of the decision-making as it was proposed..... but then that is what you get when you take your eye off the ball......
I remember a number of years ago, roundabout the time Burningham was derestricted, Wigan was also derestricted by members of a council sub-committee... the taxi trade supported Wigan and brought the town to a halt, for the full day, that involved taxis from Manchester, Trafford, Knowsley , Liverpool, Sefton.... if you're going to do it.. do it right. they were derestricted on Thursday and rerestricted on Monday.....
