skull, i say bring it on..........i'll go head to head against any navigation system you care to consider in and around London and i have no doubt who would be the winner........voice activation, now that is a giggle!! Half the minicab trade is of an ethnic origin whose first language isn't English........i'd sure be interested to see what the dragon software or any other of its ilk would make of these chaps attempts at pronouncing some of the street names

I have no need to hold on tight, i'll embrace the future with both hands and if the worst should happen and we as an industry are merged then i'll make an absolute killing as a minicab driver showing up the plums for what they really are.............amateurs!! heck, i may even save a few quid on the cost of running a vehicle

By the way, my post wasn't directed at you skull, it was merely stating the case as for why i believe that technology has some way to go to even get close to our in depth topographical knowledge of our city.

Be Lucky.

I hear what you are saying but the future doesn't need you to embrace it or otherwise - it doesn't care - but you do, and that's the point.

This isn't a challenge or a competition it is simply the inevitable.

You are talking to someone who couldn't write beyond that of an eight year old, up until 6 - 7 years ago. A psychologist handed me a piece software to install on my new computer and said "see how you get on with that" the rest is history - btw, I still struggle to write with a pen. . . .

It could all be over by the London Olympics . . . .

Blimey! that's the first time any one has agreed with what I been saying.
It could all be over by the London Olympics but It doesn't have to be.
It will only happen if we don't fight back and start fighting back soon.
I just read John "the cabby" Kennedy posted on here under the title One badge one vote and I think, personaly, it was spot on. It is not a conspiracy theory, its being recognised by many as the first shots over the bows in the run up to an out and out taxi war.
But the trade suffers from apathy and liberalism, it always has. That's why they have gotten away with treating us like second class citizens for many years and why our supposed leaders do nothing.
Individual drivers are now starting to face up to the fact we have to stop the erosion of our trade by a licensing body that has no interest in our survival.
I do believe that Boris will be our greatest alai in the next four years, but attitudes have to change in a big way if the trade as we know it is to prevail.

Boris, will go whichever way the wind blows. He's just licked his finger and stuck it in the air. Boris, is likely to shaft you in a heartbeat.

Good luck . . . .

You are telling people to band together and to take control over their own destiny. This is a forlorn hope considering that their expectations are not of their own making.

I think the administrators should have a word with you about that dear boy.

They have, they thinks I'm spot on.

Can you tell us when you'll be posting under Thomasthetaxi again?

It's just that Steves pink Taxi avatar is getting a tad tedious.

Good for you, you were never blessed with the best looks . . . and that grating slurry voice . . . I guess you should be thankful.

By the way Amar Singh, John Kennedy, John Kaponi are all Pukka journalists and real people, as are Ian, Jason, Jimbo (big Jim), taxiCABman and acabby, who wish to withhold there full names because they dont want to be stalked by Pratts like you.
So you'll just have to pick on me till Wednesday.

Of course they are Mr A, of course they are Mr A.

Do you subscribe to the theory that if you tell us often enough you’re not really posting under various names and running a website (which is basically stuff nicked from TDO) by yourself we'll all believe it? :D

Silly old sod.

PS, how's the close up film of the touts coming along? Built up enough courage to cross the road yet?
