If your asking do plate owners have to hand back there plates to Berwick the answer is no.
Once a licence is issued it cannot be removed for the sake of it, only a court can do that or the council after a conviction that is deemed to be not meeting the councils fit and proper rules but that would be open to an appeal through the courts.
Even at renewal time a council cannot refuse to renew unless there are new convictions disclosed that could be deemed the owner not being fit and proper.

I know a person not to far away that will contradict this info if it wrong :D

I understand Berwick are putting the subject to consultation......until the consultation is complete then nothing will happen.

cheers mate ,i did mean the licences for drivers and plates .NEWCASTLE S heading for a march/april deadline ,but theres been nothing official ,so was the court case all for nothing ?a pal of a pal has a plate and hes been told he can re- new his AND still operate in newcastle, so what was all the fuss ?Are they just going to stop issuing drivers badges ?It would take years and years to get rid of them , and who will enforce them? Not newcastle licencing thats for sure

Not Berwick either. My guess is they are going to spin this out until Berwick council ceases to exist. What happens afterwards will be down to their successors.

berwick algimates with morpeth in march/april, dont think morpeth council will pay for them to be enforced in newcastle out of their budget neither -so berwick licencingdepartment will cease to exist then.
