Nearly every cab here has one and they are definitely calender control ed

Its a council rule

I was certain when I got mine last year I was offered non calendar;

that aside, calendar control seems a waste of time to me.

What could be easy-er pushing the hired button once or trying to remember what tariff you should be on
It would save a few of them grey brain cells you have left

Peterborough Communications!

Please note skippy.

You can but a non calendar MR320 and a calendar version.

All they do is program it that way, then charge you extra to calender it, you could get yours reprogrammed as a calender one

It stops some of the less scrupulous from charging the wrong rate.

Have you any proof of that? Cant say I've ever seen any figures; complaints before / after.

The way I see it is that the rule suggests all drivers are robbing barstewards.

The LA's should try and catch the thieves, not make rules affecting all.

Likewise with the insane testing requirements, why should owners who look after their vehicles have as many tests as those who dont?

The first word that comes to me re your question, prior to calendar control, is rife.

Face it, that's how we are regarded by many people.

Time locked meters were brought in here about 10 years ago after several complaints (about the same driver) using the wrong tarrif. One rotten apple etc.

You mean when they put the meter on.....what if they dont?

Or what if the meter has a time display on it and its 10.00 in the morning?

What if they fire up a couple of quid on the extras button then switch it to total?

The problem wasn't putting the meter on, it was adding extras and using higher tariffs.

I have a calendar controlled meter, and I think my brother who's a cygnus agent would be delighted to sell a few more

That aside, it was proposed by both associations in the last couple of years, but there hadnt been any complaints of note about over charging

So because of one person the entire trade suffered?

FFS

You guys are lucky the council didn't recommend castration.

Good job that was beyond their powers

Most of us already had calender controlled meters anyway, but it did clear out the older meters. Some of them were 30+ years old.

Are the council aware the time can be adjusted?

But the point is, if they knew who was over charging, why didnt they do anything?

Driver always denied it and accused passengers of racism (he was asian)
Council took the easy route.
