Late-night buses are to ferry revellers out of Mansfield at weekends - to stop loitering in the town centre.
The "booming evening economy" in the town has not been matched by an adequate increase in late-night transport, says the district council.
But from this autumn, Stagecoach buses will start operating out of the town centre every hour from midnight until 4am.
The council has been desperately trying to find ways to clear the streets, as up to 10,000 drinkers descend on the town's pubs and clubs on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Incentives to encourage more late-night taxi drivers were offered earlier this month, when proposals to raise post-midnight cab fares were provisionally passed by the council.
Coun Andre Camilleri, chairman of licensing at Mansfield District Council, said: "These are the first of many initiatives we are exploring."
