I was informed recently that maddox was concentrating on his Coroner work and litigation is a think of the past, is that true?

I like your comments of surprise in that thread. lol It appears it was kept pretty hush hush. lol

I'm not sure JD, I tend to avoid solicitors, they charge by the minute!

And yes, I was quite surprised about the silence over plates issued, it seemed awfully like a Trafford scenario, I would have naturally thought once the council had realised it had to get a proper survey to assess demand it would stick to its policy.

Obviously events of recent days proved me incorrect.

I thought the same as you so perhaps there is an element of revenge in this decision?

They had no need to be so hasty considering they had a survey in hand. I can envisage this scenario, the council issue a number of plates and then close the town again. Just like they did in Trafford. They have the protection of the survey.

JD

From what I can gather respected figures within the Manchester Cab trade were treated quite awfully by the committee.

I tend to think for whatever reason the trade were hijacked.

From what has been mentioned in public there might be a long way to go in this scenario.

Of course, the fear is a Watford type scenario, which you pointed out a couple of days ago, and I must admit, you're not far wrong.

Well we have to wait and see what consultation took place and whether the legal team of the Stockport cabbies feel there is scope for a judicial review?

We know the ultimate outcome if things played out as per the law but perhaps there could be a window of opportunity left open to consider an alternative strategy.

Ever heard that saying "where there's a will there's a way"?

What about those drivers that don't yet have the pleasure of running such a carriage? Are they not part of the trade?

I would imagine councillors thought who the f*** are they to tell us what to do? We know best.

Well I heard the licensing officer held an emergency meeting before the committee meeting took place.

Take that as you will but looks to me it was related to the incident regarding the LO's car.
