It has now been confirmed that Davie young the owner of Dundee private hire company 203020 is standing as a independent in a forthcoming bye election. The taxi trade in Dundee are bewildered as to why Mr young is able to stand as he has a colourful past.Does the forum think this is a good or bad thing for the Dundee taxi trade. Also what can we expect if Mr young is successful bearing in mind all the problems the trade has had with his company 203020 :-k

So far as he passes the criteria, why the hell not?

Putting yourself forward is one thing; being elected is another

Yes i agree .my own personal opinion is that he is winding Dundee city council up as they asked him to stand down from the liaison committee because they did not see him as a fit and proper person.

Maybe someone from the taxi trade should stand against him, or better still support with stickers/money/leaflets one of his opponents.

As i thought Mr Young has know decided not to stand for councilor.I think this was just a stunt to wind up the council and taxi trade.Or maybe he has realized that he is not that well like after all .People do not vote for people with Mr Youngs past also his private hire company has caused a lot of friction in the taxi trade which is one of dundee's biggest employers.

Maybe he's realised if he stands for a position like that....he'll make himself open to all kinds of insinuations?

Mr young was the one who got 28 votes but to be fair he did say that he was not standing. We will know after the weekend if snp are to take over the administration i am sure they will do a better job than labour. There were rumours as to why Mr young stood down one was after the bad press that private hire firms got last week.
