That was my first year as an owner driver used Choice Quote, was a percentage driver prior to that.

This year with insuretaxi is down to 350 excess, similar premium plus I get public liability and recovery etc - much better deal all round.

About a grand a year fully comp is pretty much what everyone I've talked to seems to be paying for PH insurance round here.

I'll post if I make any progress.

There is also this breaker its in my town and its massive fill in the request form, or give them a call it would be quicker

After much phoning various solicitors and chatting with an acquaintance who's a CAB volunteer the consensus is it's not worth following up.

The two main opinions given: 1/Cost to recover the limited amount of monies might be prohibitive. 2/Parents of guilty party may not have funds to pay in spite of any success in court.

As I posted earlier, I've a fair bit on my plate just now so I'm writing it off.
