once again Skull i form my own views on this subject myself and follow no group or side

the danger with some people in this game is they think they are smarter than others and this can be a major error

Successful people only have to be smarter than the idiots.

that would count a couple of people out then

well you are down there and not up here and you dont have to make a living here we do and most are happy with the way it is thats not to say it wont change in time but the market here could not handle say 200 more taxis it would just be over kill. The PH market is on the down turn right now Taxi companys are taking contracts/cash work off them left right and centre and thats a fact
you have a right to your view on the subject but have you been to this fair city have you asked the guys here what they think about the subject you might be better informed then.

The fact that you are currently happy with your lot is irrelevant, the issue is will you be happy with your lot if the council delimit? I suspect not.

Thus the scenario I outlined in the previous post I'm certain would make you more happier than the delimit scenario. Or am I wrong? :?

sussex's come on my point is the market here cant handle anymore taxis on the road the PH numbers have gone down and they work in the great Free market that we are lead to belive is the way forward at this time its not. i tell you what lets have jasbar and Skull work in the non restricted market (ie Private Hire) and then report back what its like to use you own car for work and persional use, work the hours you want etc etc PH is a trade thats over subscribed right now and thats a fact but they wont do that as they know the truth. PH here is FECKED and you put more taxi's on the road in the current climate it will deatroy the trade along with the Tram works.

you see it's not what iam happy with or against but what will keep the market alive keep us putting food on the table until better times then there might be a case for more plates.

i hope that you understand where iam cumming fron sussex this for me has never been about putting on more plates or not but about what the market can handle and remember iam out there and see what going down you are not your manor might be diff right now but mine aint.

One thing that has to be remembered is that most of the taxi companys wont take anyone on they are full up and if they were they would be cutting down the radio work for there members and i dont fancy being a street car with a couple hundered more taxis on the road

Chipper, the radio companies will all be adding to their fleets. Their income is principally derived from radio dues.

As for PH, I suspect that it may become more difficult for drivers. The companies will give the work to the favoured, the rest will sprackle to make a living until things settle down.

Were I a PH driver now, I would be looking to sit the knowledge test, complete the modules and apply for my own taxi licence. I would then be able to pick up off the street and compete effectively.

This is good for the trade and good for the public as standards improve.

It's only those caught in the headlamps and rooted to the spot who will suffer here.

you as well as me jim know that they wont take on any more taxis i think the memberships would not have it mind you comcabs might but all that would do was water down the radio work they have

its difficult for drivers and owners on PH right now go and ask them jim please get the facts from the boys out there if you dont belive me. oh feeding will always go on in PH in good and bad times ask any ex PH driver

fair point but as i have said the PH work in a free market and its market is failing right now numbers are down across the board and a lot of guys that are in the taxi trade are ex PH and they know what happens in the free market

standards should be high anyway and IMO they are as is the service the public get
you have never had to take your own motor for a cab test have you and i just fail to see how its good for the trade in the current down turn

You may well be right, but the point is that now taxi SUD has been independently assessed more taxi plates will be issued. The council will also discuss delimitation.

The only thing that will be up for debate is some plates or loads of plates.

If the council delimit then I suspect there will be a number of small taxi firms starting up. Maybe using the 'taxicall' system.

They don't have a formula for some plates only an Interested Parties List (IPL) full of guys who've already been refused.

The fact is, now that a "significant demand" exists, the cap is gone and anyone can apply.

Ross, why don't you apply for a plate?

I've spoken to a number of guys that plan to do just that. They don't want to be left behind those on the IPL.

Oh and btw, one of the guys that phoned me tonight is on the IPL, hopping mad he was.
