Based on December’s results we would conclude that additional licences would be required. However this will be addressed once all rank observations have been undertaken.
And November?
Findings
Halcrow’s finding was that there is no significant unmet demand for taxis during the
period of their study. This finding was based on their stance studies conducted in
November 2008. The findings for November 2008 are to be used as a base figure
for Halcrow’s full Survey of Taxi Provision which is due to be completed later this
year.
Taking into account other indicators, response times provided by taxi booking offices
have improved from those submitted in January 2008 and there is some evidence to
suggest that bookings were down compared to November and December 2007.
There has been no public criticism received regarding the supply of taxis and there
has been a slight fall in the number of private hire cars since 9 January 2008.
Considering all these indicators, the view of officers is that there is
no evidence of
significant unmet demand for taxis in Edinburgh at the present time.
my point is that some have been saying that its game over but IMO it is not this whole thing will rumble on for a wee bit longer until it reaches its conclusion what ever that maybe.
