The Dundee taxi trade have again seen a change in the taxi badge test. The test has been amended. It now comprises 100 questions with an overall passmark of 85%.The previous pass mark was 88% from 135 questions .Stuart Galloway from Dundee city council has said "When we introduced the new test we said we would review it. The police indicated that it was too long for applicants to complete in the time allowed".The old test had only been in operation for a couple of months.

This is another clear indication of the councils policy in helping 203020 .

Is that to long in police think time or to long in normal human being think time???

Anyways...what it to do wi the police's opinion??

in all fairness stationtone the 99.99 per cent failure rate was a clear indication the test was too hard

As I have said before if you don’t study or have the knowledge to pass the test why should it be made easier to pass, lots of people would like a degree but if they haven't the were withal to pass the exams let’s just simplify the education system & we could all have one. Let’s say it as it is this bull $hit is just to make it easier for 203020 dim witted drivers to pass.

Well...lets keep it hard in Dundee..and when they have .01% of Taxi drivers left to service the whole of dundee, then the dundee public can walk....

With respect bloodnock what we are saying is the test has been changed again to benefit one company. There have been people past the test just no one that 203020 put through. The Dundee taxi trade have been saying all along that the council bend over backwards to help this private hire company i am sure you have read other post on the forum that also suggests this.

1 they allowed them to run without the proper insurance for over a year

2 they are allowing them to illegally ply for hire in a yard across from two of dundee's night clubs

3 they allow these private hire to have 203020 printed along the side of private hire cars.

The test in Dundee is made up of 3 parts

1 Highway Code

2 Licence conditions

3 Street Knowledge

The Council didn't reduce the questions overall they just reduced 35 questions pertaining to the street knowledge & in my opinion that is the most important section of the test. we are not against anyone passing the test but we do want to distance ourselves from passengers being asked for their postcode whenever they enter a cab, this by the way is an ongoing complaint being received on a regular basis from passengers. The new taxi test had been put in front of a taxi liaison group which consists of our enforcement officer’s, members of the licensing committee and members representing the trade, if it's good enough to implement by the liaison group it should have been downgraded by the same liaison group & not by a council employee.

Here! Here! I couldn't agree more. Let’s hope they do and we don’t have to wait too long for all the skeletons to fall out of the Closets.

only 1 badge applicant this month and he failed the street test, interesting to see 203020 have asked for their independant ph operators to be allowed to put the 203020 logo on the side of their cabs,if granted all the others will do the same teles/505050 etc, this will make ilegal pick ups a lot easier, another 6 ph plates plus 1 wav plate also applied for

The street test has been reduced by Stuart Galloway he said it was because it took to long. What i cannot understand is that there are more private hire applications than hacks even when Dundee is deregulated :?

The more rules that are brought in regarding private hire, the more professional they will get, and the more work they will take.
