No he sounds like a sh*tbag who wants to circumvent licensing law.

I have some sympathy for his situation. He is at least trying to stay legal unlike many I know who are not! There are many councils in Britain like his although I do not know exact detail maybe he can enlighten us? Anymore emails Alex? I would love to try to change Flintshire HC policy but I am not rich enough or Knowledgable enough to try.

so therefore what is the conclusion? Is there any council in the uk that can allow me a hackney carriage which i can plate and use to take bookings without the operators licence rubbish etc.

There are so many councils in the uk. there must be one which is not so stringent.

I think it's a curates egg sort of situation.

Some have a knowledge, some don't.

Some have the DSA test, some don't.

Some insist on WAVs, some don't.

Some have Btecs, some don't.

All that said, I'm of the view if a person wants a cab license then they will endeavour to meet whatever standards are required.

After all the shouting about illegal hire and reward and volunteer drivers etc here is a guy who wants to get himself an operators license as cheap as possible without the BS. To all those with a private hire operators licensed from home WELL DONE you are one of the lucky ones with a decent council, or your daft enough to pay over £500 per year for op lic, badge, plate etc. A HC is all the guy wants or needs to go about his lawfull business. Shropshire HC http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/licences.n ... 4E005CD66D FEES are: http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/licences.n ... 44004B86B6 works out at £207 for year 1 then average of £147 per year for next 3 years. Ok he may have to travel a bit

Well you can go and get as many as you like from the PCO if you present suitable vehicles.

The only fly in the ointment is that you need a London green badge to ply in all of London, but only a yellow one to ply in the suburbs.

So maybe your answer is to learn the streets of Wimbledon.

sounds like hard work! I have to say That I recently took good advice & telephoned Denbighshire CC. Well They said I may have a HC saloon, great I thought. I live in Flintshire....no problem! great even better! I need the HC to do PH work in Denbighshire & Flintshire, Wrexham etc. Silence well you will need a PH operators license to take bookings, why? I am a HC the vehicle is the operating centre I said, well if you make an appointment we can answer all your questions for you sir. Me thinks that I should keep :-# quiet and just put in the application. £200 for the plate £90 for the license.
