Hardly a week goes by without someone whether it is a Councilor, the press or Joe Public having a go at us.

The headlines are a multitude of eye catchers but the claim that complaints have gone up does not add up, it would be nice if we did not have any but when your council invite the public to make complaints - well you are just going to have some. Um 136 complaints in 2003/4 from approx 450 hackneys and now we have 207 complaints from over 900 hackneys, but no doubt P.H are in there somewhere. My maths are not the brightest but I reckon that the complaints have gone down

As ever sensationalist headlines but how many of those complaints were substantiated. What was the breakdown of the prime times that these people were complaining about i.e how many were made by people who were the worse for drink and what days of the week do the most complaints come from, is it a Saturday night?

As ever a black picture painted by the people who issue the licenses and allow the people concerned to drive, and in a nutshell an indictment of the failure of their own system.

P.S I wish the complaints from good hard working cabbies were also looked into, like a runner but the police tell you it is a civil dispute sort it yourself.

Quite a good way to reduce iffy articles in the local paper is for the local trade to tell the editor any more negative articles will lead to a complete end to all advertising in said paper.

Money does talk.
