In my case, you aren't even close.

I've been a taxi (Scottish for HC) driver for 14 years. Had my own taxi (Scottish for HC) plate for most of that time. During this time we have been delimited, limited and delimited again.

I think you'd be better answering this yourself. How far from Scotland are you? Do you realise Scottish taxi legislation is different to yours?

i know what the real problem is and why you are so desperate to get a HC plate, it's because you know you are being shafted by the PH firm you work for and think it's an escape route from 6k of radio charges and shifts, and it will be if you buy in, if you hope for a free one recognise that you won't be the only one, and quality control means nothing, all the best will in the world won't prevent back door tactics which will result in flooding, all that will happen for you guys is this, you'll be 40k in debt including interest for the next 5 years, you'll be lucky to take £25 per night weekdays and £100 on the weekend nights if you are lucky, all in all you will be able to kiss your credit profile goodbye and maybe even your house if it gets that bad, take a tip from someone whose been there, seen it and done it, and should it get to the stage ever again that plates are free issue again I will be manning my car 24/7 with drivers just to make it all the harder for those who come in with their milestone WAV's.
Rant over? :-({|=

Right up to the point that it needs a new engine,

The TX4 has a five year engine warranty, or so they say.

But what it boils down to is it should be the driver decides for himself, rent or buy, not anyone else.

Are you still a HC owner ?

Things maybe different up there I admit.

But I just cannot understand anyone actively trying to cost themselves wages by sanctioning the increase in competition, it just doesn't add up.

And there's no need to post violins, I've been objective since Alex let me back on, I've no desire to have slanging matches with anyone again, and it just makes ppl look like they don't have an answer tbh, and the fact you wrote rant over I suspect what I wrote there hit a nerve.

I'm not sanctioning an increase in competition.
Cabs aren't the competition, Doom - other drivers are the competition.
They will always find a way to compete against you, and if they have an owner to pay off, they will work even longer to make a living.
In turn, you and every other driver have to work longer to keep up or make less for the same hours.

You limit the competition by improving the standard of driver who gets a badge in the first place. No more "no spekee eengleesh, postcode pleezee" immigrants with a tomtom and no clue.
Fewer drivers = less competition.
Without drivers, cabs are useless and there is no point in accumulating them.

We have answers, Doom. Your just not listening because it doesn't fit with your views.
I posted "rant over?" because what you posted was a less than objective tirade, directed at me and it was 100% wrong. In short, it was a rant and I was asking if it was finished.

Ok, I'll give ya that one, it was a rant, beer rant that read different to how you've explained it.

I agree that driver quality needs to come up to spec.
