Warning about taxi firm ads in Polish stores

Slough Borough Council has noticed adverts appearing in Polish shops in the area offering a taxi service for airport pick up and drop offs by unlicensed taxi drivers.

Anyone taking these taxis will not be covered by valid insurance and the vehicles may not have a valid MOT and could be unsafe.

The drivers are can be difficult to trace and won’t have the required CRB check.

Any individual transporting members of the public and receiving payment must be licensed as a private hire or Hackney carriage driver and their vehicle must be licensed.

Commissoner for community and leisure, Cllr Shafiq Chaudhry, said: “It’s vital that anyone booking a taxi makes sure it’s from a legitimate firm.”

For more information call the council’s licensing team on 01753 875664.

I would & the Polish Klub in Brum has similar cards on their bar counter, but it never dawned on me that they might be unlicensed.
