It would appear so.

I still cannot believe people can actually condone this drivers actions.

If and when the driver is caught, turning the argument around, he ran someone over for £15 ffs

I still cannot believe people can actually condone a runner...a fare dodger..someone that had no intention of paying the driver who was kind enough to run him home at 3.30 am....someone who gets his mum to spout venom and accuse all and sundry except the very one that tried to illegally leg it without paying the Taxi driver.

Sorry..Ive no sympathy for this lad whatever the outcome, his leg will heal but the drivers career will be F*ucked up forever.

There are runners, shoplifting and people making off without payment in all different kinds of businesses, but normal behaviour doesnt tell me you run these people over.

To use a car as a lethal weapon is stupid, and the driver has no b*lls.

What would have happened if the passenger had died?

It would be a murder enquiry.

Maybe a bit of red mist came over the driver. If someone does a runner toward the rear of your vehicle then reactions are that you will give chase on foot but if they run from the direction of your cab or car in front of the bonnet then the reaction of the driver with his engine running was just to put his foot down and try to catch up with the lad rather than trying to injure him, then unfortunately for the taxi driver and not the little scumbag giving it toes that contact was made. Personally i've had about 6 runners in five years and a bit more fortunate in these cases at being a PH driver so three of these runners i've had doors to go and bang back at. In the drivers case mentioned I have had an occasion were I also have mounted the kerb when I was spat at in the facethrough the drivers window and if it was not for a three foot garden wall that the little rat dived over then it would probably be me in the headlines. It's not till a couple of minutes later when you realise that even though at that spare of the moment you want to get hold of the little bleeder, at the end of the day in a court of law then you're probably looking at a manslaughter charge.

Your still assuming it was a deliberate act...maybe said numpty panicked then darted towards the car pheasant style at the last moment...poor driver maybe never had a chance to avoid him.

no, he left the scene of an incident

accident isnt used now as it infers it was unavoidable

and mounting the pavement, crossing a garden and drive to t*** the t*** was maybe avoidable

He got out of the cab and kicked the passengers (the one leg he broke running the passenger over) repeatedly.

So....the passenger tried to do a runner, but failed....and the driver returned the compliment and did a runner himself, after... ahem... "catching" him...hopefully showing him how the "escape" should have been completed.

CC....joking aside, two brief points for you. Firstly, I would have thought you of all people, knowing the trade as you do, would "keep your powder dry" and wait for more evidence/facts before hanging the driver. He may indeed be a nutter who tried to kill this little cherub, but who knows, as others have said, it may have been an accident, or the kicking his leg, or perhaps even more of the story may be "enhanced" elements...for a better effect. The driver may well deserve a custodial sentence for it, but we've all seen just how different the truth often turns out to be when drivers are accused of things varying from "taking the long way round", to rape...or assault. I think I'll wait for more facts before joining the lynch mob, and even then, be willing to let the courts decide this driver's fate, if deemed appropriate.

Secondly, it only takes a few seconds of the red mist descending for there to be unintended consequences that can change lives forever...and even the mildest mannered can fall victim to it at some point (some little to$$er robbing you of over £15, when some days you might not earn much more once the fuel is paid for, might do it for some  ). There but for the grace of God....as they say.
