Saw a programme about this disgrace about 20 years ago, and still can't work out how it came to be.

But it seems that an apology if in the offering, methinks far too late.

I think we should also remember whilst undoubtably a few were taken advantage of, many many more probably went onto a good life, a life they would never have had in crappy Britain.

Canada, Australia? . . let me just look outside . . Yep, it's raining again.

Lets not forget the sad life's some of them had at the hands of their so-called carers mate, brothers and sisters were split up before they boarded the boat, there have been stories of people being reunited many many years after they left Britain.

An apology is well over due IMO.

An apology is just worthless words spoken by people who had nothing to do with the act in the first place. the same as the recent apologies for slavery. They just make some people feel better and nothing else.

Apologies which are absolutely worthless seem to be the way forward in the world of spin.

Let us be fair............Does an apology put things right?

This is the new line of defense from politicians when things go t!ts up,Umm wellll.................. we said sorry what more do you want!

Of course not, but on the telly this morning one of the lads (now around 70-80) was very please the Aussies had said sorry, and very happy to hear our government were going to do likewise in the new year.

And if that chap is happy, then that will do for me.
