A MAN has been jailed for four and a half years after pleading guilty to an attack on a taxi driver.
Michael Morgan, aged 21, of Wordsworth Crescent, Blacon, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to one charge of robbery.
The victim had picked Morgan up in his taxi on July 17 this year when the robbery took place.
Morgan assaulted the driver in Marlow Road, Blacon. He punched his victim in the head, knocking out two of his teeth and causing bruising and swelling, before stealing a money belt with £75 inside.
The taxi driver needed hospital treatment following the attack.
DC Roy Wellings of the proactive CID said: “Violence like this will not be tolerated in Chester. The victim was carrying out his work and deserves to be able to do that in a safe way.
“He was understandably shaken by the assault and I can only hope that this sentence gives him peace of mind that his attacker is no longer on the streets.”
