Cabbie seals a £20k 'Deal'

20 March 2010

A lucky cabbie who drove a hard bargain to win big on a Channel 4 TV show says he is "ecstatic" at the result.

Brad Copping, 30, who used to live in Castleview Gardens, Ilford, won £22,000 on Deal or No Deal last week.

He said: "One night, me and my wife were watching TV and the advert asking for contestants came on. I didn't know at the time, but my wife put me in and I got a call about a year and a half later.

"I had no clue what the bloke was talking about at first, but I was ecstatic when I heard- I couldn't believe it."

Brad says he will use his winnings to take his mum on a cruise, do up the house and go on holiday with his wife.

But he also plans to donate some of the money to charity Spinal Research as one of his best friends became paralysed after a jet-ski accident on holiday a few years ago.

Brad, who now lives in Collier Row, claims seeing himself on the TV was a nerve-wracking experience.

He said: "My wife and I were sat there cringing. The first time I saw myself, I was shaking. I was really nervous. It's pretty weird. The camera puts on ten pounds-I thought I was pretty slim until I saw the show."

But the whole family loved it. The father of two said: "My daughter turned off her favourite film Toy Story to watch me instead. It's good to know I come in front of Woody. My wife just thinks I'm a nutter, but she loved it too."

Prior to Deal or No Deal, Brad had never been on TV, but he says it's an experience he could get used to.

He said: "The way they run it is really, really good. They pick good people and you are in a hotel every night. You are drinking and having a sing song.

"Noel Edmonds is very funny. He gets on with everybody really well.
