What I am saying is that restriction is like the council's beecher's brook. It's a hurdle it has to get over. Until it does, whenever another incident like this happens, or even a murder, the council can't possibly claim that it did everything in it power to provide enough taxis in the marketplace. T

hat means that it can be held accountable, sue by the injured party for failing in its statutory duty. The female in this incident should be sueing the council. Given that the council's failure is anticompetitive, a clear vested interest and breaches custom and practice elsewhere in the country she would be onto a banker.

Duggie, you gotta get over this notion you have that customers exist to serve us. We exist to serve them. And on this evidence we're letting them down.

Total crap
A predator stalking it's prey waits and then waits and again waits, strike bam wallop!!! No amount of Taxi's can prevent a determined predator

You are acting with no concern for the victim of this crime i'm sure the victim would prefer to get on with her life rather than a self interested man like you jumping on this victim for your own end, Jim this is very sad as it is showing there is no limit to what you will go to, to win your mission, in your head be it

You'll not get any lies from me. As I said earlier, you're wrong as usual!

btw How could I get rid of a set of plates, when I have never had a set?

I take it you mean Andy Wallace.

Wee tip for you! If I hear any rumours, I get in touch with the person concerned. Get it straight from the horses mouth! I take it you know Andy? So go and ask him.

The preadtor is irrelevant Duggie.

The problem for the council stems from the simple premise that she couldn't get a taxi to take her home. That's what Lady Smith said.

And that's what the council needs to deal with. And the answer is derestriction, end of. Which is what Aberdeen recognised and did.

Difference between us Duggie is that I care about customers, you don't.

What would you do if it was your wife or daughter getting assaulted or murdered?

Be different this time Duggie, put you brain in gear before engaging your fingers.

London has no restriction on licenses, we still have around 10 sexual assaults a month, commited by either licensed or unlicensed Minicab (PH) drivers.

None of the ones that are caught tend to have a surname like Green or Jones, nor a British passport.

Weird or what, you seem to be using the Honourable Lady Smith and her statement to try and justify your argument.

Unless I can't see it could you point out the part where she is supposed to have mentioned that there was a lack of taxis that night.

I checked back that night and my takings would suggest a quieter than usual night.

It's not that easy to get from Market Street to the South Bridge without seeing one of the ranks after all and don't taxis operate more or less the same all over the World?

Almost every time I've had any problems with passengers it's almost entirely due to their over indulgence of alcohol or drugs, they get themselves into a situation and it quickly starts to spiral out of control and you are then left to try and sort out the mess usually free gratis of course.

Is there a taxi driver who hasn't had a nightmare experience with these sort of passengers, I've had so many I couldn't recall them all now, how many times have I stood there cleaning the contents of someones stomach of the carpet with the jet wash at one or two in the morning at a great cost to myself.

It's a causal inference and thats all it is and it's a tenuous one at that, so unless derestricted areas never suffer these sort of things the whole premise of your argument is bogus.

P.S Personally I think your obsession with young woman, wee lassies and rape is quite creepy really, I live in the real World and some of them are no better or worse than their male counterparts and thats also a fact.

I abhor your racist comment.

However, The simple truth is that it doesn't matter how many assaults or rapes there are.

Edinburgh's council claims to be protecting public safety. But it reduces the chance for females to get into the safety of a licensed car by restricting access to them.

London can claim they are doing everything they can by not restricting. Edinburgh can't claim this.

Now consider this. If London decided that they wanted to restrict taxis, to protect vested interests, wouldn't Rape Crisis and other women's groups be rushing to claim that such a restriction would increase the danger to vulnerable women through being unable to hail a cab?

Bet on it.

So what's the difference in Edinburgh?

Councillors protecting the council's and owner's vested interest.

Isn't only a matter of time before someone recognises the potential here?

I'm gonna do my best to encourage such a claim. Watch this space!!!

The female involved here should be sueing the council. She just doesn't realise the potential.

James Barclay Taylor you really do have more faces than the town hall clock.

You go on about drivers working when it's busy, and the interests of the public.

Can you answer who's self serving interests were being served when you were fueling up your taxi before 3 O'clock (the busiest time of the night) AND then later seen fueling up your private car BEFORE 3AM.

Couldn't have anything to do with YOU as a season ticket holder and YOUR interest in going to see your team getting gubbed by Rangers, and ensuring your team helped Rangers win the league at Fester Road - you're a fat loser, get on with it and shut up
