I dropped off at the Premier Inn on Bath Rd this evening and noticed a big C on a sign just before the tunnel entrance to Heathrow.Have they introduced a congestion charge in the last few weeks?

Also dropped at Gatwick South on Saturday for the first time.Is it easy for the passengers to reach the drop off point when I pick up Sunday,or have I got no chance with all those wardens about?
I ask because when I picked up t'other week at Gatwick North another driver told me that the Vito wouldn't get in the South car park.Any advice welcome, thanks.

Gatwick At the south car park is a section towards the end for oversized vehicles. The wardens move you on after a few minutes unless you can see your passengers, had a right barney with one, one night asked him if he got a pervert pleasure out of upsetting people

Haven't seen anything about Heathrow when I was up there Sunday

No, I suspect that's the green air zones signs. Congestion charge doesn't start till right in the middle of London. I think from Heathrow it starts about Hammersmith.

As mentioned above at the far end of the South Terminal car park there is an area for big cars, but I prefer MacDonald's car park where you can wait for 60 minutes for free waiting for the phone call from you punters telling them they are outside the area where you dropped them off.

I thought you could wait as long as you liked because the tickets are unenforceable.

You could be right, but I can't be bothered with all the paperwork, and there is no good reason for me to ever wait that long for a pick up.

I don't leave my manor until I get a phone call to say the plane has landed.

Thanks for the advice chaps.Seems like it's easy enough for the passengers to get to the drop off point then.

Regards

Steve

They've been talking about a congestion charge for Heathrow for years, it'll come in one day as cash strapped BAA looks for more sources of income.

It looks like all major in tunnels in London are assigned a letter, not sure what it is, I think the East India Dock tunnel is assigned the letter "E".

On the A4 coming into town, the congestion charge starts at the Earls Court one way system.

If BAA do decide to introduce a "Congestion Charge" to Heathrow, they may probably allow taxis and private hire to be exempt (and just charge private cars), as with the existing London Congestion Charge, but I wouldn't count on it.

Don't count on 10 mins at EMA,they charged me on 10 mins, better get out in 9 mins and no free re-entry within 30 mins.
God knows why they are digging up the car park again.

no, i mean see if the time printed on the ticket is right, on your way out see if that machine is right too as im sure long stay 1 at BHX prints the wrong time when you try for the 15 free minutes, or am i too suspicious?...
