Brum, your title of this thread may come back to haunt you Renault's are renowned for electrical problems
You may get lucky with this one, and you have the warranty for so long, but I would have gone for the VW, or Merc

Mr Skippy is there nothing you don't know about vehicles?

Only the ones that I cannot afford or not interested in like a mclaren or Ferrari and a like
Mainstream cars yes and I like to find out about them
No interest in buses BTW
I wish Brum well with his and hope he does not have any problems

Can't really understand anyone not using a main dealer for servicing during the warranty period.

If you can't afford that type of servicing, don't buy a new car.

its because the main dealers are ripoffs and not even the best at the job

i had a brand new citroen

first service oil+filter £188 .......(£5 filter, £30 oil)

whilst removing the gearbox (NS) to replace a clutch they managed not to notice the NS suspension strut was flopping about due to a busted strut top mounting

and taking THREE days to change a wheelbearing...

my HGV guys are cheaper, faster and more reliable than any main dealer, if i ring now with a problem they would say bring it in, a main dealer would say they have a slot to TAKE A LOOK in 3 weeks....

36,124 milese on the clock, due for it's 4th service and minor warranty work today and my Renault Voyager NX8 Hackney Vehicle decides to join the 'Captain Cab Club of Ailing Gearboxes'

It will not allow selection of any gear, forward, reverse or sideways although you can hear the robotics trying to select the gears and then after about 30 seconds the faulty gearbox warning symbol flashes onto the dashboard and stays there.

I'm not a happy bunny at the moment!!!

There's one on the rank that has done 107,000 miles without problems.

Everyone is saying it's the robotics or the electronics to the robotics, but I'll just have to wait and see.

The latest diagnosis from the Renault garage on my gearbox is that they suspect the problem is a leaking clutch slave cylinder INSIDE the gearbox, which is one of the weak points I was worried about before I bought the vehicle.

I mean what kind of a design is it to have a slave cylinder INSIDE a gearbox, so that when it leaks the clutch and dual mass flywheel are f*cked too!!!

They need to get the gearbox out to confirm the diagnostic results.

I don't suppose I'll get it back now until next week.

ah yes, a CSC.....dreamed up by a workshop manager looking to increase his workload, at the same time he did the DMF design where a new clutch gets a new flywheel, and a new flywheel gets a new clutch and BOTH cases get a new CSC......barking bleeding mad squire

Isn't it just!!

And 6-7 hours just to get the gearbox out!!!

My eldest son came up with something else on this. He said that if the hydraulic fluid had leaked from the slave cylinder and then from the gearbox / bell housing, then the likelihood is that it would have sprayed everywhere underneath the vehicle, causing damage to the underside paintwork, which in turn would create premature rusting. He believes that any warranty repair should include a thorough cleaning and neutralising of the corrosive hydraulic fluid and a repainting of the damaged areas.

I wonder if they will do that?
