Well if they are built and fully assembled in China, they'll have the Mitsubishi engines, opposed to the VM ones.

I think some form of announcement would have been made or leaked to the trade, after all LTI has publically stated the Coventry line would still be assembling the TX4's for the British Market.

I'd welcome a different power unit though, even a petrol one should be on the cards as the costs of diesel is so high.

At a meeting at M&Os last week they said the VM engine is here to stay until 31st December 2011. On 1st January 2012 euro 5 comes into play with an updated VM engine that meets that criteria. It won't be the same engine as the 2011 one though.
Knowing LTi it was probably a lie but that's what they said.

There are two cabs on test with different front and back lights and other cabs will be introduced in the future with other changes because they want to test different parts on the cabs possibly to see if they last longer than the crap normally made in the UK.

From TAXI.

John Russell also made clear that the move to Euro 5 would not
mean a new vehicle: “There is no TX5,” he explained.

Euro 5 would be reached by adding a Diesel Particulate Filter to the
existing VM engine.
“We can achieve Euro 5 emissions by working with VM, so contrary to rumours there is no TX5, no new engine and we are not moving
away from VM. We are very happy with them,” said John.

Customer Service: “We are currently reviewing our entire Service Dealer
network to make sure they come up to our new standards,” said John. “We are also recruiting new Dealers and would welcome applications from garages who want to become a Service Dealer.
We have also created a new After Sales Division to improve the way we deal with drivers and to ensure we keep improving standard in our
Service network”

LTI also quashed the rumours of cheap Chinese vehicles, moving production to China or new models in the near future, as Mr Russell
concluded: “We are testing Chinese parts on the TX4 at
the moment but we will keep manufacturing here in the UK
in Coventry.

“Now is a great time to buy a new TX4, there is no new cheap cab coming, we are staying with the TX4 but with an imminent rise in VAT I
would advise drivers to take advantage of the great deals we have on offer at the moment.”

Most likely LTI have a contractual obligation with VM.
I can't understand why else they would persevere with the VM engine if there is a better choice available which would make their product more sellable.

They have been known to denie the existence of a new model before........ just to get rid of of the old model

Indeed.

Maybe some of the folks going to the taxi show today and tomorrow should ask them, and have a good peep at the TXs on show.

LTI were not at the show in 2009, so what makes you think they will be there this year?

I will be going today & tomorrow, so I'll have a look & ask some awkward questions of AO if he's there.

Went to the show at Coventry today... At the LTI stand I asked the rep "Where's the fire extinguisher?" and "Which one was built in China?"
The reply was
"Actually Sir we have sorted the fire problem out and as far as I know neither of these cars we built in China"
