£600Bn bail out debt now stands at £700Bn, and the INTEREST is £70Bn a year.........

so who did we borrow it off?

HMG bailed out the banks, are we saying they didnt use HMG's own money?

Something is not right is it?? Maybe HMG borrowed it from the Sub Prime sector of the banking world??

On another note we could have been worse off if the Government did let the banks go to the wall, infact we'd be in Poo Poo street.

I think that when the government borrow money for such things, the issue government securities and these are purchased by big groups such as pension funds and there is obviously a certain amount of interest to be paid.

Didnt most of it go to the banks?

banks lend money

so they are now lending money they borrowed off HMG, shouldnt the banks be paying the interest?, shouldnt the BOE have lent the banks the money?

will the banks get late payment letters (£20 each) or unpaid DDM letters (£20 each)...

We must also take care of historic debt of 700 billion, or debt accrued by New Labour.

I'm guessing the 70 billion will also include paying some of that debt off.

No they don't want to come here, they are quite happy making stuff that we buy, and then pay them back with the money we have borrowed off them.

And we thought we were the capitalists. :?
