What'swrong with a wheelchair?

I drive a TX1. The vehicle is totally unsuitable for transporting wheelchairs. An ergonomics test carried out by the Health & Safety Executive, concluded that any wheelchair user, weighing more than six and a half stones, present a high risk to the driver. The driver is not properly insured and is therefore, not covered in the event of an accident.

You are on your own.
:-|

If anything goes wrong the wheelchair user could end up suing you. :-|

Go to the gym and get stronger then you'll be
able to push sub 6 stone people up the ramps into your TX1.

What an a*se you are Nigel.

I ahve muslim drivers working for me and they DO take dogs in the car it is just a minority of drivers who think that Britain shoukl be run according to non British traditions

Why can we not have a basic application questionnaire which asks questions like

Will you allow dogs in your car ? before issuing a badge

we live in a secular country not a muslim one if I visited a muslim country i would be expected to observe their customs and traditions the reverse should apply we are not denying them the right to their religion just asking them to accept a more pragmatic approach to living in a non muslim state

wel live just looked and my plate says "licensed for 4 PERSONS" no mention of dogs, cats, vietnamese pot belly pigs or parrots...

tell me, if a hack only offered the boot space for a dog and the punter declined, would they still be liable for a smack on the wrist?

my collie is happy in the boot

Maybe I'm bias, but I like dogs better than most people. As long as the dog is on the floor and behaving, itself what's the problem? At worst it means covering the seat with some sort of cover or blanket. :?

if i didnt like dogs i wouldnt have this one, nor would we have had the last one for 12 years

the point is that paying (not me) maybe £20K for a nice new car and having Rover* leap across the seats isnt fair, not on the car owner nor the next punterm once moving the driver cant control where the dog is can he/she

*other dog names are available....

I can sort of see your point if it's a saloon car. Even so, I've never seen blind dogs leaping anywhere, they just do what they are told. :-|

Its not the act of carrying them i have a problem with, its the way the rules FORCE you to carry them and in some cases FORCE all HC's to be WAV's which never see a wheelchair job

I think that if drivers didn't discriminate using silly excuses there would be no need to 'force' them to take assistance dogs. These dogs are highly trained and well behaved and have always sat in the foot well in my vehicle. Drivers are not obliged to take any other animals if they don't want to

I agree. No one shouldn't be coerced into doing the job, for fear of losing their operator licence. :-|

I think you will find that you have to carry "assistance" dogs which also covers hearing dogs and possibly others.
