The Showground is in our licensing area. We have a right to pick up.
That was my thoughts.
Exactly how can anyone stop you picking up?

Quite simply because they secret away the pickup zone into an area they control. Then they enlist the aid of the cops to marshal the streets and deny us the right to pick up on the pretext of public safety.
Basically the cops act as marshals for a private company. This is what also happens at the airport. Taxpayer's money is spent on their rights being denied by what is becoming the police state.
The cops will quite happily breach our rights, they'll do it in a heartbeat.
Of course, having breached those rights, when someone is attacked or assaulted, as I believe happened last year, then the first guys they come to for help is the taxi trade.
You couldn't make this up. Cops and the trade no longer work to a common purpose. They [edited by admin] on us, we're supposed to touch our forelocks to them.
It could be so different. But it will take a real move from the cops by stopping rousting us in the streets, stopping us with customers on board and reporting us for trivial and irrelevant misdemeanours thereby putting us through the ignominy of the council's kangaroo court.
In short, the system is designed to put us in our place, and our place is at the bottom of the pile.
This latest ruse by the scumbag companies is just them muscling in to tread down on us again. The council's protection of this vcested interest, propping up the blackmarket in taxi plates, reinforces this.
