That's a very authoritarian way to look at things. Better that ten completely innocent people get struck off the list than one pedo gets to go near any kids, eh!?

Wrong...the Pedo will always find another route to find a Victim, a bloody ISA is hardly going to stop him..or her!!...and if One Innocent person is struck off then it is one Innocent far to many...

We live in a world of risks....Better the parents educate their kids to be careful than to rely on a state system that is about as impotent as Kangaroo on an Ice Flow...

Re the above act and its agency Independant Safeguiarding Authortity you maybe aware that the Secretyary of State Home Office has put the above act and workings on it on hold for further consultation an re-modeling understand this will be completed within six months. This is in connection with the complaints from many quaters. Questions from the forum. The CRB(run by Capita)would be receiving information not just from Police National Intelligents Division but from organisations/employers who have held serious disipline cases against a member/employee that may have not received a criminal conviction. In the notes with this act there are 47 organiosations listed.

The impression of many in the field of Human Resorces trade is this ACT and the system being put in place, is a sledgehamer to crack a nut, but there are good parts that should be retained.

If the Good parts from the CRB and the ISA came under one Modified CRB that would be great....but only if that one CRB was going to satisfy the needs of all the different bodies or groups that its owner might want to be part of. at the Moment if you were a Scout Leader as well as a Taxi driver you would need TWO CRB's to please both groups...how wasteful is that?

The proposed ISA at least was a one off payment which did not need duplicating over and over again...I think?

Ah yes, the RMT and for that matter the GMB. This might sound a bit contraversial but I've often wondered how trades union representatives reconcile the fact that much of this legislation, certainly the ISA, was proposed by the very political party they are affiliated to and fund out of membership subscriptions.

Perhaps I've got this wrong but surely being a member of a trades union if you are a taxi driver is a bit like a turkey voting for Christmas.

An alternative is to start your own trade association (you only need about 20+ members) and affiliate to the National Private Hire Association. Membership is cheaper too.
